Is there a book which has left a lasting impression on you, or better yet, changed your way of seeings things?
I've read Jack Kerouac's "On The Road" recently and all my mind is capable of doing is planning trips and the impulse to go on a hedonistic spree clings to me like a shadow :-s.

Dune, by Frank Herbert. Amazing book. I've read it at least five times. And you should probably change your avatar. Pedobear is not welcome.

Cat's Cradle. I had to read it in Summerschool for English. Kurt Vonnegut is hands down my favorite author from that point on.

If you want a classic, try 'Call of Cthulu' (or just a collection of short stories) by H.P. Lovecraft.

Animal Farm by Orwell is a good short one, however with a depressing ending.

I also recommend The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, which is basically a shorter version of Atlas Shrugged, also by her.

It's extremley boring but the philosophy in Atlas Shrugged is worth a look. I just read The Stranger by Albert Camus in one sitting (Yeah it's that short) and that was pretty good.

The Eyes of God and its two sequels are pretty good.

And then there's my guilty pleasure, the Eragon series. I used to hold on to some false hope that it wasn't a blatant rip off of Star Wars... But then I read the third one. Overall, though, it isn't THAT bad.
