There seems to be a lot of threads started over movies, but I never see any dedicated to documentaries. So what are some good documentaries that you have seen?
I'll start,
Fathead: this movie is a response to Morgan Spurlock's Supersize Me. It's about a man who eats fast food for 30 days straight and loses weight. It also covers various failed diets of the past and how the obesity epidemic is exaggerated.

Fish Out of Water: This film takes a look at what the Bible says about homosexuality and its relevance today.

There's others but I'll stick with those for now. What are some good documentaries you've seen?

King of Kong: A fistful of quarters: I've seen it a couple times but I still think it's really well done.

Planet Earth: BBC always does a good job with their documentaries, this is the cream of the crop though.

Exit Through The Gift Shop: really interesting look at the street art world, it's validity is questionable though. Still worth a look.

Unfortunately it seems that most documentaries I watch turn out to be just plain boring. A shame really, documentaries can provide some interesting insights on things I'd never try.

I'm a fan of this one. [http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/man-on-wire/]

It's a recreation but its such an amazing story it doesn't matter to me. Quite the feat.

American Movie
Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room
Animals Are Beautiful People
The one about youtube, what's it called... Damn, can't remember, but it's good.

EDIT:
We Live In Public!

Damn, that was driving me crazy. I looked it up on Metacritic, though, and was surprised to see it only has a 61. Some of the things people complain about are true now that I think about it... Dunno. For whit it's worth, I went into it without knowing anything about it and I really liked it.

The first three for sure, though.

Lakle of Fire. It's an absolutely powerful documentary on abortion. It somehow manages the impossible task and stays completely unabiassed when presenting both the side: everyone presented incredibly fairly. No matter where you stand on abortion, you'll definetely come out of the film with a deeper understanding of the topic than when you entered.

Easily the best War Documentary out there to date.
From the opening where the Humvee with the camera man in it, is hit by an IED, the where the group explains how the felt when the man the film is named after dies, to when they lose a sergeant during a firefight, to them posting two snipers as an act of revenge... VERY gripping.

If you have some money to blow on a film Escapist, this one should be near the top of your list...

The only documentary that matters as far as I'm concerned. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1424432/]

Hey, I'm not a fan of them. It takes a lot to interest me in one enough to remember it by name.
James and Jeremy have done some cool documentaries ... How can you say that?!

OT: BBC's World at War is by far the best WW2 documentary out there. Actually in most cases you can add BBC to a subject and find a documentary on it. And they are all fairly well done.

Yes, they have, and I've laughed my ass off at a couple of them. But I couldn't tell you the name of any of them.
James May's Big Idea's
James May's Toy Stories
Richard Hammond's Invisible World's
Richard Hammond's Engineering Connections
Victoria Cross (Clarkson)
Invention's that Changed the World (Clarkson)

are just a few of them that I can list off the top of my head. You can't say you don't really like documentaries, you love a TV show made by documentarians! :) Although hampster seems to be the least comfortable with it, all good watching.
