Spiral Knights is quite fun (not that I've had any luck getting the stupid game to work on Mac due to the game supposedly being "Not Available")

Killing Floor is cheap and runs on just about anything.

Multiwinia may be worth a look if you like RTS games.

Haven't played Avadon myself but Spiderweb games have always been good in the past and Avadon doesn't look like an exception.

You can't go wrong with Trine.

Also: Braid, World of Goo, the Portal games, Psychonauts, Amnesia: The Dark Descent (if you like survival-horror), Torchlight.

Most if not all of those have demos you can try first I believe.

The Steam store actually has a separate category for games that are Mac compatible:
http://store.steampowered.com/browse/mac/

I'd recommend the following titles if you don't have them already:

Team Fortress 2 - It's free now and my all time favorite multiplayer title.

Iron Grip: Marauders - Another free title. It's a fun little turn-based strategy game that runs in a browser.

Killing Floor - Cooperative zombie shooter with a variety of different weapons and perks.

Civilization V - Awesome turn-based game where you build a civilization to stand the test of time. This iteration is more accessible to newcomers than previous games in the series without dumbing things down too much.

Psychonauts - Quirky and hilarious adventure/platformer by Tim Schafer.

Torchlight - Fun little Diablo-esque hack and slash.

Counter-strike: Source and Gmod, and Team Fortress 2(which is F2P). If you don't have these games go get'em. NOW.

If you do not have any particular complaints about the orange box, yet do not have the orange box, GET THE ORANGE BOX.
Besides that, Left 4 Dead 1&2 are also really good.

This. My family are big Mac users, and I used to be a huge Blizzard fan simply because all their games were released on Mac and PC simultaneously. Given all the..unsavory business decisions Blizzard has made lately, my loyalty has shifted to Valve. Even if I do feel like I'm betraying my childhood by saying it.

OT: The Half-Life 2 and Portal games, Team Fortress 2, Psychonauts, Civilization V, Plants vs Zombies, Torchlight.

Frozen Synapse, so far still GOTY for 2011 in my opinion. Works on OSX, Linux and Windows, and has great PvP action. Minecraft works fine on Mac too although it isn't on Steam, have you Minecrafted yet?
