Alot of people now are talking about video game movies are bad and stuff of that natre
but what would acually seem like a good idea?, or at least something you would see.

oh and btw movie versions of these games are already filming/pre-production/etc
-Prince of Persia-SoT
-Gears of War
-Bioshock
-Metal Gear Solid
-and I've heard God of War
but I'm just mentioning these,

In my personal opinion, Grim Fandango would be good depending on who did it,
mass effect has movie version written all over it, and it MIGHT be alright.
if you can't think of any, think of games with reletivly short play times and storylines that arnt overtly complex

Even though Valve themselves have said that it will never happen, I would quite like to see a Half Life movie.

A TF2 movie would be kinda interesting as well. Maybe focusing on a specific game on a specific map. Maybe playing out like the 'meet the...' videos.

Most of those games are basically playable movies. Why would you want to sit around NOT chainsawing people, while watching other people have all the fun?

Im sure Ive seen plenty of threads with this as the main part but because your new Ill let you off.

I want Valkyria Chronicles to be made into a movie. If done correctly it would be touching and amazing. Especially if done into a three part movie like Lord of the Rings. I think it would be brilliant.

While everyone else here has quite a few good points, the one I would most like to see so long as it is done right is Bioshock. Actually I wouldn't even care if they didn't go with the same story, so long as they captured the appropriate mood and atmosphere of Rapture and made a story that was worth watching it would be great.

If by most of them you mean Metal Gear Solid right? The rest are fairly low on cutscenes.

Personally I think Bioshock has a LOT of great movie potential. I would set it before they game and have the main character be a Private Investigator looking for a missing little girl (who became a little sister) and getting sucked into the politics that brought about the fall of rapture before he meets a sad and violent end just as the city falls into chaos.

Two words:

Eternal Darkness

Probably the deepest, most intricate story in a game that I have ever seen. I'm sure a handful of halfway decent actors could do a better job than the shitty voice acting in the game and an actual movie director could stage better scenes than where presented in the game. Also, it's about C'thulhu, therefore it is awesome.

There was rurmor that Tim Burton was interested in Grim Fandango as a film, though this was in 2006.

I'm keen on the idea of infamous becoming a film, but if I were to suggest something I would System Shock 2 (obivious one I know).
In saying that I'm not all for games becoming film. Games are aimed to keep a person entertain for at least 10 hours, whereas films tend to be 3 at the most. And the game that are suggested to become films either have: To much plot and dialogue that can't be conveyed well in one film, or (in contrast what I said) not enough and leave the person bored. But enough of me sounding like an idiot.

Agreed. I usually disregard any movie as a game adaptation to be total garbage, but this would be my first choice if I ever were to experience a change of heart. Not to mention, this Fan-made teaser is pretty cool.

Beyond Good and Evil had a nice setting. The story was a bit....limited, but the setting is nice enough for cinematic adaption, I think.

That's a pretty sweet trailer. Although Freeman's hair is thinning a bit...

I would try making Star Wars Battlefront into a movie. I know that star wars is already a movie franchise, but it would be nice to see some of the "bad guys" humanized and characterized as something other than total twits who would sooner kick a puppy than smile. it would also be good to establish once and for all, that the Rebels are the bad guys and teh Empire was right all along.

Make it a Full Metal Jacket (With fewer @ssholes) meets Blackhalk Down (no americans) kinda movie. Combine that with the rather fantastic Star Wars enviroments and we're golden.

Honestly, I don't think there should ever be a movie based on the first Half Life, but a movie based in the Half Life 2 world that doesn't follow Gordon Freeman AT ALL would be great.

Thanks Torque669 for being so lenient, ha

i think the main reason why there are so many game movies in the works now is that, games

According to those in Hollywood,
Now that games have better stories and more people are playing them, and they?ve already been written
. think about it, it went from old movie remakes, TV shows and now its up to books and video games, one way to look at it
is these aren?t going to be Oscar citizen cane-esc movies (bioshock would be closest), they would see them as an action delivery movie, like transformers for example, simple action movie and look at it,
it made more than 600 million dollars.
