i was just curious to know which side of the coin people are on when it comes to playing games with a morality system, such as bioshock 1 & 2, mass effect 1 & 2, fallout 3 etc. so, do you prefer to be the upstanding moral hero who always chooses the side of good, or the black hearted evil villian of the story.

personally, i can never bring myself to be bad, and so, of course, in every game i play with a morality system i have to be good, whether that means being fully paragon in mass effect or saving all the little sisters in bioshock.

so fellow escapists, its over to you, good or bad?

Good usually. I suck at being bad.

I always feel sorry for the people in the game, so I end up helping them out.

If a game provides me with some sort of moral choice system I tend to go for the good choices, because the evil ones make me feel downright dirty, and I don't like that.

I always trend towards good. The few times I decide I want to be bad, such as the KOTOR games, the "bad" dialogue options are so absurdly over the top I end up defaulting back to good anyway.

The evil options always seem to go along the lines of pissing people off, which when you're trying to save the world never really seems like a good idea.

It really depends on which gets me better rewards. I tend to be bad more often so I can get more money.

Good usually, but sometimes I will choose a bad option if it isn't all that big.

I prefer to go good on my first run through a game like that. But the second time I'll always go eeeeeeeeeeeevil.

I tend to be good first playthrough, I like my worlds full and vibrant, plus I always worry what might happen if I do the negative choice.

Good also tends to be the better choice at some points

Demonstration
--Bad choice: kill the guy, take some spare cash and gain evil points
--Good choice: spare the guy, find out he has special armor tucked away behind his bed, gain armor and good points.

There are plenty of points in games where evil is the better choice, but it tends to be where good choices outweigh bad choices in terms of rewards.

To each his/her/is/er own though.

You should add a poll option for this.
And I always play as good in all my games.

Good. Bad rarely gets rewarded and it's usually fake badness anyway.

Bioshock and Fallout you can be the sickest, most violent, brutal person you like but the bad guy is still your enemy and ultimately you fight for the good guys.

Good, because quite frankly I feel like an asshole for being evil.

This is only for games that have binary eat kitten/don't eat kitten 'morality' systems. If a game actually has, you know, multiple opposing factions and moral ambiguity then I'll usually side with a certain group and be an absolute monster to those who oppose me/us.

...

I'm sure there's a lesson in that somewhere.
