Now, i'm aware that slip screen multiplayer seems to have been subtly phased out over the last couple of years for whatever reason, but I'm having some friends over next week and would like something to play with them aside from SSBB, Mario Kart or Call of Duty for the 8 billionth time. So escapists, I ask you thusly: what are any good split-screen multiplayer games I could entertain three friends with? The game doesn't necessarily have to support four players; we could rotate the controllers or something, but it would help if it does.
Any suggestions?

Not necessarily split screen, but i highly, recommend diablo 3 and dragons crown. Both are very fun very addictive abd can support up to 4 players. Plus you can play both drunk.

I've only played Borderlands 2 over LAN, but what little I've seen of it on split screen appears okay.

I would start here for an overall list: Co-optimus [http://www.co-optimus.com/system/2/playstation-3.html]. I'm not entirely sure what some of the filters do, but be sure to check off 'Couch Co-Op', which reduces the results to about 9 pages.

Might want to look into the Rayman games. Also, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One was pretty good with 4 people from what a friend told me. And don't forget Portal 2 in split screen. Here's a short, informative video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT7LZ9VTOpo] as well. Strange, I never would have guessed that Modern Warfare 2 had split screen.

*EDIT* That video mentions Dead Nation, but I don't recommend buying it.

Out of personal experience I'd say Resident Evil 5 (no, really) and Borderlands (first game, haven't played 2nd). Elsewhere in this forum there was a kind of RE5 appreciation thread, which I agree with. It's essentially Black Hawk Down meets Resident Evil 4 and the story/cutscenes are all narmfully bad but co-op redeems it. The way the game plays out you'll team up and split up frequently enough to keep things interesting, teamwork is valuable in taking down bigger foes and bosses, I enjoyed the inventory management and the item switching and the fact it's always wiser to distribute weapon types between the players so each specializes in something different.

Borderlands is also fun. Think of it as an RPG where you can quest together. If that sounds appealing, it's the game for you. I hear it only works if you play it co-op style, too.

I've had my eye on Portal 2 for the co-op campaign. I hear it's quite short, but I'd give it a shot.

Oh, you need to be able to play with more than just one other person? Um...

These two will work. I own both of them and I've been having a blast playing them. Just be ready to divide your time as all of you have to go through your own loot.

Finally, Resistance: Fall of Man is a pretty fun shooter with split-screen, but it's split vertical, not horizontal, so that may take some getting used to. And I think Resistance 3 is split screen as well.
