Well, the subject pretty much says it all. I thought a 3DS would help to revive my old love of Nintendo, and (so far) it has; however, I have only 2 games and I have already beaten 1 of them (Paper Mario Sticker Star, not the greatest game, but I thought the series was whimsical and fun). I know I will probably end up looking at and purchasing some of the games in the big franchises (i.e. Zelda, Fire Emblem, etc.), but I'm not really sure what to look at apart from those. I'm not incredibly picky about what type of game to get, but I need some advice. If any of you have any games you've played and would recommend, tell me about it! Give me a brief description of the game/game style and what you like about it so I can look into it. I'm just looking for a sound gaming experience. :)

Nintendo and third-party stuff historically haven't gone together well. I can personally vouch for Pokemon X (Same formula as usual, but also just as fun. Adds a few interesting pokemon. Worth it if you've liked the series so far.), A Link Between Worlds(Nonlinear dungeons, interesting wall mechanic, 2D Zelda doing what it does best), and Luigi's Mansion(A fun haunted house platformer starring Mario's more interesting brother.), but those are all from Nintendo.

If you've played any of the Ace Attorney games, Dual Destinies was as witty and fun as ever. Other than that, I dunno. Hope at least some of this helped. Happy hunting!

It'd be easier for us if you were to give a genre or two you like particularly.

RPGs have always been fun for story and gameplay, but if there is anything where I can just spend some time dicking around on without a real story, that suits me, too. The Zelda games have always been good for me (with a few exceptions), Pokemon is not really my thing anymore, and I know there are a lot of people who swear by puzzle games (but I don't necessarily know how I feel about them having never picked one up). Does that make things any clearer?

Fire Emblem: Awakening and Pokemon x/y are two games I can recommend. Pokemon x/y have the usual formula, but it's finally fully 3d instead of mostly 2d or partial 3d. Plus, the minigames with which you can train any pokemon pokemon in certain stats are a fun little addition, even if it's mostly fluff.

Fire Emblem has a very good story, and though the combat is rather simple since you have very few skills/attack to use per character, it involves a lot of tactic. Every point of damage matters so positioning and whom you attack when is very important.

Another vote for Fire Emblem Awakening. I haven't beaten the game yet, but from what I've played so far, it is a really good game. Got a bit frustrated with some parts of it, but I'm past that now.

Also, if you don't have any other version of it, the Ocarina of Time remake is worth playing. It has a Master Quest version of the game which is mirrored and the dungeons have different layouts.

Well, in the RPG department, there's Dream Drop Distance... The story's decent and tries to catch you up to speed with the previous installments in the series... Plus, you can technically "dick around" with the Flowmotion gameplay, which to me never get's old...

However, for constructive "dicking around" on the 3DS, I choose Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate... You can basically ignore the main story and just focus on hunting various monsters... Though, I do suggest before (or after) starting a new game to download all of the free DLC (just so that some of the earlier in-game hours are less of a chore to go through) and the only downside I can think of, in general, is how the circle pad pro makes the overall controls easier to deal with...

NOt played it myself but my brother said the Resident Evil 3DS game was really impressive. Also, if it was me, I'd get Professor Layton.

Kid Icarus is the best Star Fox game we've got in years.
Liberation Maiden is another good one.
Code of Princess is a side scrolling beat-em-up with Street Fighter style controls
Way Forward has a nice collection of games available on the eShop.
I've also spent a good amount of time with the note program and colors. The 3DS makes for a nice little doodle tablet with them.
