Hey I recently downloaded CSS off steam because of the incredible deal, I love the game already, the community is kind, the mods are funny and fun, and the shooting just feels really well toned, but my only problem is that.

I KEEP GETTING FUCKING KILLED!

Ahem so I was wondering if any of you have any tips for a noob like me, the most I can get is 3 kills 20 deaths per match which is the worst I've ever had in a game, (I play CoD a lot, sue me) I play on Office most of the time and an occasional game of gun game.

1) aim for the head.

2) aim for the head.

3) aim for the head.

4) fire.

1-3 are actually one step but such an important step that I felt the need to say it three times. You have a split second to get the kill before they kill you, if you're torso shooting that will take more bullets and you loose a split second advantage, that means you die. Never start firing until you've finished aiming, the most accurate bullet is the first.

Anther important point is that you must listen, if you hear someone coming you can get the drop on them, this goes for you too so occasionally you will want to sneak so they cant hear you coming.

Watch how some professionals play on YouTube (before they take those videos down if that stupid bill becomes a law). Take notice of movement, shooting (every gun is handled differently) and always use sound to your advantage. CS and CSS are the only games where you constantly need to listen for footsteps and plan your attack according to what you hear. It will take some practice before you learn the maps, but after a while you'll be doing it without noticing.

Use the Ak47 or M4 and do 1 or 2 shot bursts. Instinctly you will want to spray when things get a bit crazy..DO NOT SPRAY. Seriously, in the middle of a firefight if you just stop briefly and line up a shot to the head and double tap youll get kills. Also modify your crosshair so its a bit smaller until your happy with it. Mines about 4-5 pixels wide and almost invisible personally.

If all else fails get the P90 and hold trigger and see what happens :p

If you've played an FPS before (especially call of duty) any tactic in that FPS that would be considered "nooby" is pretty much standard in CounterStrike.

Camping, pre-shooting, pre-nading etc. All of these kinds of things (Which I find really annoying in FPS's are done all the time in CounterStrike)

burst fire is your friend, whether its controlled by the game or your finger. Spraying, especially with the unsilenced M4 or AK is kinda like... well fail.

It's true. It's always hard to resist the temptation to start filling your opponent with bullets as soon as possible, but with head shots banging an instant kill, it is always worth taking that quarter of a second to go for the head.

Also remember, they never expect the second flashbang. You can carry two for a reason.

Crosshair size is strictly a matter of personal preference, just like sensitivity. For example, I play with a large crosshair.

AWP.

Nah - I'm kidding. Good advice is to aim for the head, and to keep moving. If you're standing still, you're typically an easy target (unless you're behind cover).

I can't offer too much info, though; I was never THAT good at Counter-Strike.

Oh... another piece of info: if you're playing office, use the auto shotgun. Trust me... it does amazing things in that map.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Also, try to memorize the various maps so you'll know what weapons to use and which corners campers will be lying in wait for you.

Personally I don't care for Counter-Strike, as it inevitably boils down to whichever team camps corners better wins. Also, many of the players I encountered were total dickwads.

- Read the guides/surf the forums.

- Learn the maps.

- Watch and learn from the other players (especially the ones that kill you).

- Learn the weapons and equipment.

- Have patience (it's pretty hardcore at this point).

- ????

- PROFIT!!

Find a four leaf clover and spray and pray.
That's all that game is now.
Also, ping and rate settings are key.

It seems you have a case of the I-suck-at-Counter-Strike. I prescribing you with a heavy dose of practice a whole fucking lot with a mild prescription of try aiming for the head. Side effects may include, but are not limited to:

> It takes time. Did you really expect to be a CS:S God on your first day?

> Most of these guys who have the game have been playing for years. Of course they keep killing you.

> Try playing on small servers. Better players always go for the big office and dust games. It helps hone your skills.

> Kevlar/Helmet, two flashbangs, he grenade, and a smoke. Buy them every round.
(Protip: In case you didn't know, you can press F2 at the start of each round to buy everything you bought the previous round at once.)

Bullets come out of the end of the gun furthest from you, this does not change.

Stay away from other peoples guns, the bullets are made of pain.

Never stop moving, even when your camping don't stand perfectly still, people like me who have been playing for years can hit a fly off a horses ass from a mile away, so standing still is going to get you killed in no time at all. The only exception to that rule is the AWP, but even then don't stay still to long.

Beyond that its simply a matter of practice, learning where people camp, where the choke points are, when to flash, when to retreat, how to hold bomb sites, the shortest route to the hostage rescue zone.. you can try playing against the bots to help your aim, but you have to crank the difficulty up to hard to get anything out of it.

Lastly, good luck haha.

This is fair enough, then again the main reason I do that is to snipe with the Clarion and M249, the most un-sniper like weapons there are.

Run straight for the enemy: they will be intimidated by your masculinity, and will retreat like cowards. Always rush, doesn't matter if they plant the bomb with thier whole team, you be that hero. Only buy flash grenades, but don't throw them at the opposing team. They're a sign of respect, not some tossaway weapon. And remember: stay frosty.
