Gotham City Impersonators, Do Not Want

So Steam installed Gothamn City Impersonators on me today without my giving it the go ahead or anything.

Due to it going F2P soon I understand why Steam would want to advertise it but this is a bit too far in my opinion.

My question is did this happen to any other steam users today?

PS Wasn't sure if this was an Off-Topic or Gaming so if a mod wants to move it go ahead.

That's just an assumption, based on the fact that I couldn't find anything else on it. Or, maybe you were just sleep downloading.

Well shit I got it too. It doesn't have a folder in steamapps, but Steam itself says it's taking up 16mb. It's probably just a bug, check tomorrow.

And the new releases menu on the store just got spammed with about 50 dlcs for it, yea it's just a transition bug.

Clicking "play" gave me a "no subscription" error, so I'm guessing it is a glitch. I will so try it out as soon as it goes F2P, though. I've been interested ever since it was announced, but I didn't want to drop $15 without being sure my sorry excuse for a laptop could run it.

Yeah I thought this was going to be a thread about a sequel.

It seems that it has been added to my Steam library as well, and although it's listed as installed it's not on my computer, when I click play I'm prompted to download the game.

I can't seem to remove it from my list. This is probably a bug since they haven't done this with any of the other free to play games on Steam, which you can freely add and remove from your library.

EDIT: I deleted the local content and restarted Steam and it seems to have gotten rid of it.

This time it seems it was just a glitch, but apparently this is something they are working on, a sort of down your throat advertisement... nice one Valve.
They are already doing this with the PSN cross promotion of Counter Strike, shit will just install without permission to push the game.

i dont think steam gave me the game. i wish they did, that game looked fun. they have given me games in the past that i have no interest in. it confused me a little but i cant say it upset me at all. its not like steam is forcing me to play the game

It happens from time to time. You'll get a game in your list that you're not expecting because they're fucking with it and it goes wrong. You still can't play it of course.

In North America here, I had it yesterday. Was even added to my recent games list. Did a 'remove data' thing, didn't remove it from the list though. But today has arrived and with it the abolishment of the game from my library and history, so...whatever. Whoop.

I believe so. I don't know why anyone would really complain though. It's either a bug or you just got a game for free. It's a good game too. I only have it on the 360, but no matter what system it's played on, if you enjoy TF2 or CoD you should be able to enjoy this game.

It appeared on my recently played list thing and then vanished after I went on something for a while. It's not on my installed list, and I don't see it on F2P list, so it must have been a bug... weird eh?

I saw it yesterday in my steam library so I guess I'll have to check to see if it's stil there today.
