Graaargh! Gears 2 achievements have dissapeared

Last night on Gears 2 I played a split screen co-op game with my mate and everytime i picked up a gun it was telling me how to use as if i've never picked it up before, i thought this was strange then i noticed that seriously 2.0 popped up and it said 100 when last time it was around 5000. I didnt think anything of it then i carried on playing my campaign save on insane which was right near the end. I finished the campaign on insane and i didnt get the achievement!!

It turns out that all of my gears 2 acheivements had reset!!!! my gamerscore had actually decreased! Safe to say I was irked by this as my insane campaign had taken about 2 weeks to complete and now i cant even select insane when i start a new campaign! (fuuuuuuuuuuuuu--)

has this achievement reset happened to anyone else??

They probably thought you glitched the seriously achievement (whether intentionally or not you did) and MS has been really cracking down on that one. You are lucky they didn't reset your GS entirely and label you as a cheater.

That is why he glitched it. You need 100 000 kills to unlock the achievement. He only had 5000 and unlocked the achievement. I am gonna bet that he will say yes when I ask if his buddy had the achievement before they started playing. Since that is how the glitch works. You can unlock any GOW 2 ach if you play co op offline as long as 1 of you have it. There was tons of vids on youtube on how to use the glitch (I don't know if they have been removed) but it really pissed off Cliffy B and they cracked down hard on anyone they caught doing it.

Also he can't do it again (well and get the points for it). Once they reset you like that you can't unlock the same achs you already had that they reset. If I had beat level 1 and got the ach and they reset me, I could play through level 1 a hundred times but I would never get those points again. If I hadn't played through level 2 though (pre reset) I could get those.The only thing you can do is start a new profile.

Doesn't mean he unlocked it. On Gears 2 you get a pop up box telling you how much progress you've made on your achievements. Kind of like the Orange Box.

Did you glitch to rank 100? I have heard that both Epic and Microsoft are not happy about that.
Anyway don't worry, if you only had 5000 kills you were still so very far from that achievement.

That happened to me last night. I finished Mass Effect on Hardcore and didn't get the achievement.
Something wrong with the 360 perhaps?

I understand where your coming from, but does getting the achievment really matter? Last time I checked, playing games weren't about being recognized, they were about enjoying yourself. Of course, if you enjoy having 1 achievment that thousands of people probably already have, then suit yourself.

hmm, if you weren't glitching then it was just a random bug in the system, or you were caught in a more wide spread problem. Something like this happened to me with GTA4 my games shows that the achievements are complete but i get no points from them. Don't bother ringing xbox support the customer service is terrible.

Ya you are right. My mistake.

I do have a theory though. One that could piss off alot of people. Since the glitches run off of local co op it could be he got burnt due to the simple fact he played local co op. They could have some patch out there that resets your GS if you play co op period.

Amen, brutha.

It did that to me too. I still have the achievements I had gotten, but all my progress towards the others was lost. All my unlocked goodies were locked again, and now I have to do it all over again.

By the way, I don't have my 360 connected to XBL, nor have I ever. So, that's not the problem.

It could just be that you recovered your account on another person's Xbox before you connected to Live after getting those achievements. If so, that means that you'll have to do that stuff all over again.

This happens when you leave a match in the middle of a new round's Loading Time.

I kinda have that problem with fallout 3, it shows the ones Ive got when I play it on pc but when I check my achievments on the 360 it doesnt show them, Im not sure if the gamer score changes between the 2 tho, Ill have to check that
