Graphics ruining cutscenes.

I was playing a male sarcastic rogue Hawke in DA2 recently, and during his romantic convo with Isabela in act 3 post Castillon encounter she and Hawke kiss. Normally, this wouldn't be bad but, Hawke was wearing armor that had a bit of cloth hanging between his legs. And, when they kissed, the camera focused on Isabela's legs and said cloth went right through her legs. I facepalmed, moment ruined.

So, my question is basically: Have you ever had that happen? A little graphical error ruined what, for you, might have been an awesome cutscene? And no, I don't want to hear complaints about the graphics on older systems, that's not the point.

My ME2 Shep had very, um, sharp cheeks. By that I mean you could probably cut steak with them. The game didn't render them very well.

No, not really.

But there was this one cutscene type thing in oblivion (it restricted my control to only being able to look around) during one of the last quests for the fighters guild. After the scene was over, the little restrictive gimmick didn't go away, and I was stuck there for all eternity..

Jeez, you're that picky? You youngins need to take a step back in time and try to remember what's important about gaming.

I'm not saying it ruined the game for me, but for that one moment any immersion that I had in the romance of the scene was abruptly ended.

Just recently in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The cutscenes actually seem to be really grainy and too dark. Compared to the actual game, it cutscene graphics just look terrible. I don't know if that was intentional or why they did it, but it was distracting.

Eidos did the gameplay, but Square Enix did the prerendered cutscenes. That's why the prerendered cutscenes are soo much darker than the in game ones.

I noticed that the camera often ends up pointed or angled the wrong way during conversations in Neverwinter Nights 2. This would leave you staring at the back of someone's head or at a wall while talking to someone.

Just to add to my own thread there was another bit at the end of that run. When Meredith stumbles back and gets ready to turn into superman, your allies appear to help. But, this time, Varric appeared right where Meredith went all "I won't be beaten rawr!" and their models clashed. I sat the controller down and started laughing, wondering wtf Varric was doing "Hey Hawke, I'm a ghost now!"

That's funny, because I also kept thinking that the cutscenes are of a much lower caliber than the regurlar game graphics. Even the motion capture seems less realistic. Way to go, Square Enix.

Way to go.

It's not technically a graphics error, rather a complete fuckup on all accounts, but in ME3 I once tried to get my whole squad killed, had Miranda swept off by the bugs and then she magically reappeared in the next cutscene! Walked into frame as if nothing ever happened. WTF

...Graphics ruin cutscenes for me all the time. Not because of odd physics glitches, but back when 3D was new and some time after, it was hilariously bad. "LOOK AT THIS FLAT FACE TEXTURE AND IT'S SHOWING EMOTION! ...No really it is! Look harder!"

It's always when the graphical limitations get in the way that ruin a cutscene for me. Or when they have some terrible animators..but bad animation ruins a lot for me..

My favorite is when they use the in-game engine and up the rendering quality at a severely lower resolution, but keep the same poly models, and same low res textures. So you get neat post effects, in a grainy blocky video file, with really gross looking people..

Too many times to mention. The first time I remember it bugging me was the opening credits of FFX, with the group sat around the fire in Zanarkand and Rikku's pigtail was going through her shoulder and out her back, that really made my head tilt with bemusement at the time.

Dragon Age 2, where the stick thin LadyHawke can make sexy time with Isabella. How the hell is she holding her up like that without her spine breaking?

Haha, I was about to mention FFX.
Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I think it happened quite a few times in FFX, right?

I was recently playing "Enslaved : Odyssey to the West", and to be honest, I have lost count with how many times Trips hair ran through and past her shoulder. Then again there was always something "iffy" about the cutscenes in that game.

Yeah, always with the hair. I thought stuff like that would be gone by this console generation but it still happens all the time, especially with characters with shit-loads of hair like Bayonetta or the girl from Heavenly Sword.
