I enjoy a good mindless hackfest, when i say hack n slash, i mean essentially dynasty warriors.. God of War and Devil May Cry being the farthest i would still consider in the category, and i was wondering if anyone knew any other great ones? I had tons of fun with Dynasty Warriors, Empires, Drakengard, Kingdom Under Fire, so its not like im all that hard to please. Any ideas?

I got a very good one that came out recently:

X-Blades. Poor reviews, but since when did hack n' slash games get good reviews?

Its got a perfect mix of hacking n' slashing, magic, and some light gunplay.

I might get crucified by this but Lord of the Rings 3?
If you want Hack and Slash and platforming the Prince of Persia series is worth getting.

Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The Ring.

It, and Wolverine's revenge are the only good movie games, in my opinion.

I don't think some of you know what HnS means.

Not TPP games like LotR or Ninja Gaiden.

It means games like Diablo 2, Dungeon Siege, Sacred or Loki.

Oh, and since you like Dynasty Warriors: the Gundam spin-off was great fun. The sequel to it is do out soon, too!

They are kind of old now, but I had hours and hours of fun with Champions of Norrath, but that could be because I played co-op with a friend.

Beat me to it

You are just talking about an action-adventure (except dynasty)

Kingdom Hearts II.

Does that count as Hack and slash?
Link for anyone that doesn't know what HnS is. Including OP, from what I've seen.

Did you... umm read the article that you JUST posted? Because it includes stuff like Dynasty Warriors... not Diablo and shit. That's more action-RPG, at least I thought so... this is covering things like DW, Golden Axe.. etc.

In fact Diablo II is described on wiki as an "Action-RPG with a dungeon crawler & hack'n'slash style". Regardless, games like DW, GOW and Mount & Blade easily fit into the action genre, hack'n'slash.
There is Diablo on that list.

Kingdom Hearts is not a HnS. God of War is a TPP Action Adventure game. Otherwise, you would have to count all such games as Hack and Slashes - from Rayman to the new Prince of Persia.

To be honest, whenever I did any combat in Kingdom Hearts, it felt a lot like hack and slash. You throw in the occasional spell here or there, but the game is essentially won mashing X for the most part.
