OK, I was just thinking about my favourite dysfunctional family, when a question popped into my mind: Does Hephaestus have any friends?

Then I got thinking: Does he know about Aphrodite's thing with Ares? Does he really mind?

(Unrelated, but does Charon have a backstory?)

Anyway, just a bunch of random questions. I think it would be cool if this thread got kept alive, so everyone else ask questions. Not necessarily Greek mythology, I'm also fluent in Egyptian lore and know a little about Norse and Roman cultures.

1: Yes the Cyclops who raised him.

2. He did know but didn't care.

3. Not really. He is just there.

XD Thanks for saving my thread. Hephaestus was raised by a cyclops? As in... one of the children of Poseidon, or... just... an unrelated one?

Why are Poseidon's children cyclops'? Is it explained?

Is there a bass god?

(for a better question: who was the god of music again)

Music was divided up, since it is such an important and encompassing thing.

However, if there WAS such thing as a god of music it would be divided amongst Dionysis and the Muses.

Who was horus' father again? I cant remember.

(Horus was the one with the Falcon head right?)
Gonna go with Ra on that one, though Horus' birth process was interesting to say the least since Ra ain't got no wedding tackle.

Nope. His father was Osiris and his mother was Isis.

They wanted to be able to see the future, but they were tricked - the only futures they were given the ability to see were their own deaths. Unfortunately I don't remember anything else about the story, such as who they traded their other eye with for that prophetic ability.

I'm pretty sure it was Osiris. Horus was born in a 5-day loophole that wasn't a day of the year, because somebody (I forget who, maybe Thoth?) won 5 day's worth of moonlight to make new days with. That's why the moon has phases now.

I find it funny that the characters in ancient mythology are so... deep. They're complex. Interesting.

WHY DOESN'T THIS HAPPEN ANYMOAR?

OHSHITTHEREARESOMANY Um.

Weeeeell... I like Heracles. He is so very overpowered that his thirteen tasks give him no challenge- he partakes in them with not only ease, but with a boyish, heroic glee. Because of this, he never really grows up and repeatedly shows how unstable he is. It's an incredible tale- a boyish, unstable superhero. It's that all up until the very end, when he dies, horribly.

But I also like Perseus, he had a more classic tale... did you know he was the only Greek hero to not die tragically?

~EDIT~

Helen of Troy. Oh my God I love her. Every single part of her tale is pure fucking gold. A jealous, murderous housewife with creepy kids. A tale of betrayal, murder, and... other awesome not-going-to-spoil stuff.

Hercules. He counts, right?
He was my first choice and the reason why I didn't say him was I didn't want 50 people agreeing with me. Just think guys.

The Minotaur was one of Zues's sons right? He was my second.

Umm... wasn't he... wasn't he the son of Posideon + bull? Or was it Zeus...

OT: Here goes my own question- What was the predicted cause of Ragnarok? How did you (the public) get into mythology?

What's the story of Atlas again? I know he holds up the heavens as a punishment, but was that for stealing fire or something? Or was that Prometheus, now that I think about it.
