GTA V question

As the title says, I have a question regarding GTA V.

Rockstar says that GTA Online, the part of the game that looks like a MMO, won't be up until October 1. What I'm not clear on is wether or not that means multiplayer in general won't be up until October 1. By that I mean what we have with GTA IV right now, just a massive sandbox to goof off in.

GTA online is the multiplayer (however they plan to expand it as future games are released) so yes you wont be able to "goof off" until then. It will give us a bit of time to get used to the map and where all the fun shit is before we jump online and start goofing off

Looks like you have to wait for any kind of multiplayer experience but I think it's a really great idea. It means you can enjoy the story and not even have to think about the multiplayer. I'm not sure how the multiplayer will work but if there is any kind of leveling system (unlock stuff as you play multiplayer) but if it does then this is perfect because you won't have to worry about the people that just skip the single player to play multiplayer (I'm looking at you COD).
