I know its a little early to be thinking of GTA VI but i had a cool idea for modern GTA to be set in london

Basically the story is based on a trio of protagonists (i really loved this feature in GTAV) an englishman, an irish man and a scotsman (just because it would be funny). The 3 characters start of working for some local crooks and shady london buisnessmen (much like any other GTA) they have similar motives to the trio in GTA V and there big score is too try and steal the crown jewels from the queens palace. Because guns are illegal in the UK you have to buy them illegally (much in the same way that little jacob operated in GTA IV) and the police dont carry firearms so the first star wanted level will be unarmed and will only try to arrest you. However as you gain wanted level more specialised armed squads will hunt you down.

Theres loads of really good heist targets in london including the Mi5 building on the thames which could be a really fun water escape. Also as the thames pretty much runs the entire length of the city it could be used for a lot of water based escapes or chases. Theres loads of movies they could take reference from such as snatch, lock stock and many more

Basically yeah. Although i think if it was to be based on heists having the crown jewels as the big score would be such an amazing climax

Basically the 3 characters would be an englishman (cockney londoner) and irishman (irish gypsy who knows a guy who knows a guy who can get you anything) and scotsman (glaswegian psychopath)

I kinda like how guns are illegal in the UK so you have to find contacts who can get you weapons or whatever you need. I liked little jacob in GTA IV and buying a gun that way kinda makes more sense than going to a licensed gun store

Sorry to rain on your parade but the creators said it would most likely won't leave the US any time soon... Which is a bit ironic since the developers are from the UK. XD

They don't dismiss the idea completely but I wouldn't hold your breath. D:

... actually i'm pretty sure most GTA's are made by a UK Rockstar. So the humour is a little british already :p

Just look at the thick layer of cynicism over everything in GTA V.

Anywhere NOT in america would be good for the next gta, switch it up a little. They'll probs just play it safe and do vice city for the third rime though -_-

It ain't happening. GTA, like another open-world I know (hello Fallout) relies way too much on America for it's humor and storylines (i.e. gang culture in the 90s, the recent economic depression, the death of the American dream, etc.)

It would just make no sense and GTA would lose a lot of what makes GTA, well, GTA if it were to travel outside of the US.

On your second point about Vice City, they could probably do a DC analogue for GTA VI, what with all the shutdowns and debt ceilings and whatnot.

London, it's like america, but with words switched around and some sports switched around too.

I'd rather go to japan, if only for the cafe dedicated to gundam, or whatever gundam parody they could come up with. Hell, one city in japan even has a gundam statue. I guess I like japan more because they seem more willing to incorporate fantasy into reality.

There was a game on PS2 called the Getaway (developed by the same guys who did LA Noire). It wasn't great as a GTA clone, but it did map most of London from Kensington to the City. It was one of the first games I had (along with Metropolitan Street Racer) that recreated a place that I was familiar with. I used to get incredibly excited playing it "Hey this is a pretty good recreation of Oxford Circus, oh look there's a Starbucks, oh my god there really is a Starbucks there, hell I've drunk coffee in that Starbucks..." and so on. Quite pathetic really...

For every release since San Andreas, I've been saying "Please do Hong Kong, please do Hong Kong". Rockstar have said they're never leaving America with the series, but I got Sleeping Dogs last year, so all is well. A GTA set in Rio would be fantastic as well but I guess we'll never get one.

It wouldnt work most of the time you would be stuck in traffic and then you would have to spend ages trying to park your car.

Also if you are having a Scotsman, Englishman and an Irishman you should also have a Welshman and most of the game would be the protagonists trying to figure out what each other are saying.

why not australia?
might not have the same flair with everyone driving round round-a-bouts in utes and there being near zero guns available but it would be worth it solely to hear a lead character say "goan and get farked"

So Guy Ritchie: The Game? Yeah, I can dig it. Lord knows I could use more Brick Top, if only as an ancillary villain that you, in the GTA fashion, work under, inevitably get betrayed by, and then work your way up in the criminal underworld to defeat. Given the gun regulation in the UK though, perhaps it'd be best to follow the example of Sleeping Dogs and have an in depth melee system that focuses on hand-to-hand, melee weaponry, and environmental kills.

I would like that too. It doesn't have to be modern London though - Going back to London 1969 would also be nice. It doesn't have to be the next numbered GTA game though - and expansion to GTA V could also work.

Yeah that was actually a game, it was called 'GTA IV'.
Personally I think the great thing about GTA is that it is the British taking the piss out of Americans (I am English) which gives it it's unique outsider's perspective. If this GTA set in London was made by people other than Rockstar North/Leeds then maybe.
But if they populated it with dumb fake cockney accents then it would be horrific to play. I don't know anyone that speaks like that, I've never heard it outside of TV and film.

Don't be THAT idea guy. Such individuals always come with the worst ideas possible for interesting execution and variety kept.

3 characters, again? Nope.0

How about 2 groups of 2, opposing each other and as the storyline lays out, relationships drastically change, etc?

If there was a GTA london it would have to be set in the 70's a la the Sweeney.(but that probably wouldn't sell well.)

Don't forget that they also drive on the wrong side of the road.

OT: Honestly with GTA I don't really care where it is. I want to do fun stuff. Also the premise for your character kinda reminds me of "X, Y, Z goes into a bar".
