Why do they need to release More Guitar Hero/Rock Band games?(Such as DJ Hero 2 and Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock) It's a tired gimmick. The Last Good game from this concept was Guitar Hero 2. And after such stupid titles as Band Hero, DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5 and so on. I think it is time as a society to put down these plastic toys and actually start writing our own music, instead of pretending to play someone else's songs.

Because, there's still profit to be had.

Kotick has already been clear that making games shouldn't be fun, and the bottom dollar is his only concern.

They keep making them because Bobby Kotick says to because it feeds his money monster that is kept in the basement of his mansion.

In Rock Band's defense, the new one looks pretty good, and DJ Hero has only had 2 games in the series so far, so it really can't be described as "tired" quite yet. Also, not everyone has musical talent enough to write their own music or play an instrument. I'm not saying they shouldn't try, or do this instead, I'm just saying. Instead of coming out with a new game every time, they should just come out with DLC and just release new controllers or equipment or whatever so people don't have to buy another game and more equipment than they need.

Because people like to "Spend" money. You can't do anything with a pile of money being stranded on an island.

Except of course, fire.

Yeah dead end. See money.

As i recall there was an article around here somewhere where there is development going on to intergrate more legitimate instruments in a method to actually learn how to play, in a game, trying to capitalize on the fad. However problem is, its getting to a point of a little too late, as the fad is already dying out.

Sure they could just continue to release tracks and packs on the store and make money that way, but when you have people buying extra tracks and then shelling out 60$ for a new installment and with how little actual development needs to occur with these types of games, you would be nuts for not cashing in while people are still ready to shell it out to you.

Power Gig looks stupid

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock looks really stupid.

I think people should leave DJ Hero 2 alone. I played the first one at a friends house, while I don't wanna buy it, I had a damn good time with it. Until 4 more are announced at once, we should just let it go about it's existance.

Now Rock Band 3, I can honestly say I'm intrigued. Simply because of...

Activision has sent ninjas to kill you with Guitar Hero instruments....

Also...We have terrible music now....but we could have terrible music blamed on GH/RB games in the future

Honestly, I think all music games could have stopped immediately after making the jump to the 360/PS3. With DLC making it possible to pick and choose what songs you'd like to add to your game of choice, there's literally no reason to release entirely new games, short of perhaps implementing new instruments the way RB3 is with the keyboard. Of course, as long as they continue to sell like hotcakes, the companies developing them will continue to do so, and I can't say I blame them for that.

That said...

I'm sorry, but that's ludicrous. It's the equivalent of arguing that we should stop playing Modern Warfare 2 and go join the army, or stop playing Batman: Arkham Asylum and go fight crime barehanded ourselves.
