I loves me some guns, so lets get a gun thread going. What's your favorite gun? For me my favorite pistol would be the Colt SAA

While mai raifu is the Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk I

I've really got a thing for historical guns.

Guns? No. I appreciate rifles.

I'm partial to the M16A2 Service Rifle, since its the one I trained with.

This is my favorite gun.

Why shoot bits of lead when you can create rifts in the space-time continuum?

Favorite pistol - CZ Pro Tek II, a customized version of a CZ P01

Ah yes, a thing of beauty. I'd love to own one, but unfortunately I don't have the money at the moment (it costs $1,550 not including transfer fees and all that jazz). I own a CZ75B and I love it to death. It's the most accurate and most ergonomic production pistol I've ever shot, and I'd love to get a custom P01.

I haven't shot enough different rifles to really have an opinion on a favorite. Of the rifles I've shot though the FN FAL really stands out.

It's big, heavy, and fires a big round, and makes you feel manly as hell. I really enjoy rifles that fire .308 and this one just does it for me in all the right ways.

Clearly, it has to be the best Colt ever.

What use are standard guns when confronted with demons and the like?

I haven't had the pleasure to shoot many handguns, but of those I have, I liked and did best with the Beretta 92FS.

Though I'd probably get something like an FNP 45 if I could get anything... or well, my dream handgun is the Gunmaker Industries model 1 in .50 GI.

I also very much liked another Beretta product I've used, the Beretta 1201F. A semi-auto 12 gauge that has a very mild kick.

I'd probably get something more modern if I got one now though, like the Extrema 2, but this was great for 14 year old me a couple of decades ago.

Rifle wise, I've quite enjoyed a 6.5x55 Swedish in my youth... good old bolt-action. Very flat trajectory, sub MOA accuracy. 14 year old me did 5cm(2") groups at 200 meters(219 yards), including a grouping where 3 hits touched holes.

But my dream rifle is probably a Knight Arms SR-25, lightweight 7.62x51NATO semi-automatic sniper rifle. Currently in use by SOCOM, but being replaced by the sniper variant of the FN SCAR.

Any gun nut on this site should be familiar with this thread. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.131220-Pimp-My-Gun-Show-your-Creations-Image-Posting-tips-in-the-First-post]

Anyway, my personal favorite firearm and one I intend to own a functional model of someday:

Mosin-Nagant. It's not pretty and its LOUD but it is very functional. I read this review [http://pdsclasses.com/2011/06/the-mosin-nagant-9130-an-honest-review/] about a year ago which convinced me that, besides its historical value, it has value even today as a ranged weapon. Sure, I would have to jump through the hoops to get a proper scope and as a SHTF weapon, it would be of limited use at shorter ranges but it is affordable in both ammunition and as a rifle. It had to be easy to clean for Steppe conditions so care for this rifle would not be overly complicated. I just want one.

After I finish project Nagant... Who knows, I might end up getting a Kar98k and a Lee-Enfield to have on the wall with it. This is theoretical disposable income Redlin talking however. I do like my WWII bolt actions but the Nagant is the one I can foresee having the least difficulties getting a hold of because of the stockpiles of it the USSR made both during and after WWII.

Well I really liked this one. Tested it at a range of 1,100m and while I wasn't satisfied with my grouping, I did okay. The one I used wasn't suppressed though so it could have been an earlier version.

But my favourite was this:

For the most part, I appreciate the weird and wacky:
APS

PSS - Really, what fascinates me is the ammunition more than the gun.

I do love my Mosin. Started off shooting 54r out of a Romanian PSL, but with corrosive surplus Soviet ammo (20 cents a round, back when I bought my current stock... they've doubled since then), it was a ***** to clean. The Mosin shoots a little straighter anyway, and you only really need a scope for smaller than human targets at anything less than 300m... this from a guy who isn't even correctable to 20/20 vision.

Speaking of shooting small game at a distance, I've recently fallen in love with my new Savage Mark II TR. There's a little bit of round drop around 100m, being .22LR... but, compensating for that, I've managed consistent groupings under 1" at 100m... and popped the head of a squirrel who was stealing eggs at around 125m (the second time I caught him from my window...blind. Hunting blind. Missed the first time). Twice the price of a Mosin, but it did come with a good Bushnell scope mounted and boresighted... I never even had to adjust it.
pic from google, not mine

...but it is exactly the same out-of-the-box setup, scope and all.

These days I'm completely sold on the idea of bolt-action rifles and striker-fired pistols. Similar to your read of an article on the Mosin, I was sold on the Glock 21 by an article [http://www.theprepared.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=90]. Bought one, discovered I could reliably score hits on midsized targets at 25m with a handgun that almost never needs cleaning, and never looked back. I have little use for hammer-fired weapons these days (though I do love my .357 and my little single-shot break action 20-gauge, I don't need them).

Oh right, the title says gun.
No introduction necessary:

Ah, the Browning M2, for which the most popular .50 caliber round in the world is named... the .50BMG (Browning Machine Gun). You'd be amazed at the multitude of tiny parts in one of these. They gave me a number of headaches... but also probably saved my life.

-

Minor introduction necessary, the Mark 19 40mm grenade machine gun:

Don't call it a launcher, it hates that... and it will jam. It's sensitive.

-

And finally, the one I have the most training on yet the least experience with (funny how that worked out)... the M230 30mm chain gun:

Zoomed out:

The first weapons I would have mentioned are the Lee-Enfield and the Beretta 92 but since both have been mentioned I'll have to come up with something else:

Those lever action rifles are damn pretty.

I absolutely love both my Glock 21 (.45 cal) and my Remington 7mm Mag... but if I could pick any gun in the world to add to my collection, hands down it would be the Barrett 50 cal...

My dad has a 30/30 lever action that has a gilded plating just like the ones in these pictures. Gorgeous gun!

What country you live in? Mosins are cheap as chips and very avalible! Granted 91/30s is more expensive than the M44 (carbine.

Buying an 'authentic' sniper 91/30 will run you more than a couple of grand. You can buy a surplus 91/30 and get replica scopes at a much cheaper cost.

Mosins aren't very comfortable or functional. Little value outside of a bit of range fun given the the weight, awkward action. Went hunting with it once...not very uncomfortable

Clarification, I'm not after a historical sniper model. I'm totally all for an after-market scope, I just want a real Mosin Nagant. Also I'm a Canadian so I'll have to navigate the market when I can... I still need my firearms license and this is but a small side project compared to my needs as a filmmaker trying to break into the job market here in BC.

Good luck with the job hunting because rest assured your sorted in terms of mosin avalibilty! An M44 can go as low $200. Probally looking the range of 200-400 depending on condtion/WW2 or post-war models.

I'm not farmiliar with licenses in Canada but i'm guessing it's lower than Australia and it's no more than $300 for a 5 year license here.
