Thissounds odd but think about it for a few seconds. A live action gundam movie, now heres the catch the gundams will be CG in some scenes but when things ramp up it transitions sort of into anime. I feel this would be a good way to grant a more lifelike gundam experience but be able to maintian the awesome factor.

That's more of a Neon Genesis Evanglacion sort of thing.

I was thinking that something like Gundam SEED would be adapted. It is mostly concise can go for multiple movies. Its one of the more famous series, next to Mobile Suit and Wing, and it has just enough Merch for it to be franchised. I think it would go up to the moon ark or something for the first movie, then the stuff in Africa lasts until Kira gets shot down and Strike is destroyed, only to be recovered by Siegel Clyne

Honestly, I don't think that a Gundam movie would help that franchise at all. There is too much stuff to go into a Gundam series to be just covered in a movie or too.

You mean the "tribute" to Robot Jox [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Jox]? Besides, they already made a live-action Gundam movie. It's called G-Saviour.

It may just be nostalgia talking, but I think the original Mobile Suit Gundam would probably be a good candidate for a live-action remake. There seemed to be less fantastical elements (and sparkles) in the original, the pacing was better (Amuro Ray doesn't start out as the typical ace pilot that cuts through mutliple enemy units with ease), and it stayed more true to the real robot genre than the more recent iterations of Gundam. Another good candidate would be Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, which in turn deals with guerrilla warfare in the jungles of southeast asia (imagine the war in Vietnam with giant robots).

I take it you never heard of the Gundam lived movie "G Saviour"?

Here is a 10 preview of it (sorry couldn't find anything shorter like a trailer)-

Yes it is related to Gundam (skip to 5.00)

Sure I never watched it myself but I can easily see why many people/ crtic say that the movie is god awful!

Ok even if they did improved the CGI to today standard and the movie itself is more true/ akin to the franchise (seriously the only thing that make it related to a Gundam at all is due to the main character get to pliot a Gundam), I still don't think there should be a live action film at all.

Pretty much most if not all Gundam tend to have a political backstories and lore of conflict and a film has to cramp all of that into 2-3 hours movies.

Ok sure some movies can pull it off but I highly doubt you make make a Gundam movie that start with the usual protagonist/ main character from a zero to a hero so quickly in a film while explaining why they are in a war.
