This is concerning the late earthquake they had awhile ago. After the dust and rubble as cleared and the death cont tallied up many countries rushed to the aid of Haiti. For about two months. I really think that the whole " WE HAVE TO SAVE THE HAITIANS!!" Thing really became a fad. People who did not know where or what the fuck " a Haiti" was rushed there with their wallets open. It is kind of amazing since the United States sends 700 Million dollars each year to Haiti. You doubt me? Go ahead, call PBS wrong. And didn't they re-record "We Are the World" FOR Haiti? If they did that's a little far. After a short period of generosity everyone really forgot about Haiti. Did you think it became a fad?
I think I might love you.
I quickly grew tired of the "save the Haitians" bullshit that people have been tossing around lately. Can these people even find Haiti on a map? The answer is no. I checked and 8/10 particularly dim subjects couldn't. That doesn't exactly prove my point, but I couldn't find very many intelligent people who genuinely gave a petrified turd about these people they've never met. Yes, it was devastating. Yes, many died, lost their homes, et cetera. But can you honestly tell me that a natural disaster which killed a relatively small number of people is enough to make you cry at night?
While I'm on the subject, I may as well bring this up: There's this little thing called a...actually, come to think of it I can't remember what it was called. Never mind the name, the point was that each person has a little...sphere, shall we say, of people in their lives who they find to be important in some way. Those closer to the middle of this sphere would be your family, (imaginary) friends, and all those you have a personal relationship with. As we move out, we find that the people in this ball become less and less important to us until we reach the outer layer, where after that everyone becomes just another faceless, nameless stereotype; not that this is a bad thing.
The Haitians - that is, unless you happen to know one/some of them personally - will fall into that last category.
