This is concerning the late earthquake they had awhile ago. After the dust and rubble as cleared and the death cont tallied up many countries rushed to the aid of Haiti. For about two months. I really think that the whole " WE HAVE TO SAVE THE HAITIANS!!" Thing really became a fad. People who did not know where or what the fuck " a Haiti" was rushed there with their wallets open. It is kind of amazing since the United States sends 700 Million dollars each year to Haiti. You doubt me? Go ahead, call PBS wrong. And didn't they re-record "We Are the World" FOR Haiti? If they did that's a little far. After a short period of generosity everyone really forgot about Haiti. Did you think it became a fad?

They'd probably do the same thing for any country that had that kind of earth quake, it's human

EDIT: They'd do it for any natural disaster (as long as it's big enough)

People like the get on the "for the good of humanity" bandwagon because it makes them look good. In conversation is makes you seem like a more empathetic person if you say "I donated a hundred dollars to the Red Cross for Haiti".

What I do hate is when shit like that gets into our video games. Did anyone else see "text xxxxx to donate $10 to Haiti relief effort" billboards in EndWar?

I don't think it was a fad, I think it was just people opening their hearts to those in need.

I heard nothing for the earthquake in Chile though, everybody focused on Haiti. Haiti was hit with a 7.0 quake, when Chile suffered an 8.8

LOL, no news reports, no "Please help support us in rebuilding Chile" infomercials. Nothing.

It may have, but you can't blame anything but stupid people following a trend for something becoming a fad. I think the efforts to help the Haitians are important and noble: if it became a fad, it was just the stupid people following along because it seemed cool. But in no way does that discount the value or importance of helping Haiti.

I'm thinking because Chile has you know... Money. A stable Government. I did see a few reports but no save Chile commercials with Whoopi Goldberg or Oprah in them.

I think I might love you.

I quickly grew tired of the "save the Haitians" bullshit that people have been tossing around lately. Can these people even find Haiti on a map? The answer is no. I checked and 8/10 particularly dim subjects couldn't. That doesn't exactly prove my point, but I couldn't find very many intelligent people who genuinely gave a petrified turd about these people they've never met. Yes, it was devastating. Yes, many died, lost their homes, et cetera. But can you honestly tell me that a natural disaster which killed a relatively small number of people is enough to make you cry at night?

While I'm on the subject, I may as well bring this up: There's this little thing called a...actually, come to think of it I can't remember what it was called. Never mind the name, the point was that each person has a little...sphere, shall we say, of people in their lives who they find to be important in some way. Those closer to the middle of this sphere would be your family, (imaginary) friends, and all those you have a personal relationship with. As we move out, we find that the people in this ball become less and less important to us until we reach the outer layer, where after that everyone becomes just another faceless, nameless stereotype; not that this is a bad thing.

The Haitians - that is, unless you happen to know one/some of them personally - will fall into that last category.
One word. BOOM!!

(It's in relation to BURN!! My friend made it up. Feel free to use it)

Annnnnd there where people like, "DID YOU GIVE MONEY TO HAITI YET???"
And if you said Fuck no, screw them it's my money. Those people would call you a fascist or some derogatory term they have no idea what the true meaning is.
