I've heard for a while now about the re-release of Halo: Combat Evolved but look up videos and info on the game for the first time tonight and...I think I'm a little disappointed.

Let me explain, I think I was expecting to replay the original Halo except upgraded to the Reach weapons, interface and general gameplay. Only that's not what they're doing. They just touching up the graphics (admittedly, WAY touching up) but keeping the original interface and weapons.

C'mon 343 Industries, you can do better than that.

What do you guys think?

I think the point was to just rerelease the game, not actually upgrade things.

If they did that it would lose all nostalgia value, which is why people would be buying it anyway.

albeit if they did upgrade it that way I would consider buying it, as it stands I really don't care at all.

Imagine the worst wildfire you can possibly think of.

Then imagine it 100x over.

Thats what the Internet and XBL would be like if they changed anything other than the graphics for the CE campaign.

Good enough for the rest of us? Probably not.
Good enough for the Halo fans? Most likely.

That's what it was made for, the Halo fans. And much as some would say that's a waste of time and remakes shouldn't be made at all, much less for such a comparatively small demographic, it has good reason behind it and it's going to make some fans truly happy. There will be some who want more, but even more who think this is plenty.

Well. It's a 40 dollar game. Which I AM willing to pay for. I get achievements and get to play the game again with updated graphics. And I agree that if they changed anything like powered down some weapons, changed a map or whatever there would be a lot of outcry. This is more or less a gift for the fans. Halo 4 will be for them and a bigger crowd.

And for damn good reason. You do not want to fuck CE up. Becoming like Reach would be a massive step backward.
Anyway I'll probably end up getting it, so long it in isn't a ridiculous price for what it is, like ODST.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it a hell of a lot more than Halo 4.

40 is still more than I'd pay for a re-release but I'm glad to hear they're not charging the standard 60.

It also comes with 6 new MP maps and 1 new Firefight map for Reach, which would've easily been $20 by itself on Xbox Live.
