Fellow Escapists. I've been playing ODST recently, and just wanted to know your opinions on whether ODST should be classed as a good game.

A lot of people on this site hate Halo for some reason so you might get some negative answers.

I thought it was a great game. The campaign was by far the most original and interesting of all the Halo games, the atmosphere was amazing and it had some decent characters. It actually makes me wish that more Halo games were about the everyday soldiers and their perspectives, instead of the oh so exciting and memorable spartans.

The only thing that disappoints me is that there was a lot of wasted potential, not due to a lack of effort, but a lack of time and money.

I liked it. I thought the game was fun and Buck is cool. Wasn't worth £40 though.

I thought the game was okay but not worth full price. I thought the campaign was alright but didn't enjoy it that much, it seemed to have a lot of wasted potential.
Im not sure why but I never found the atmosphere to be that great, perhaps I just had the usaul Halo atmosphere to ingrained in me to be able to see anything else in a Halo game but I never felt it to be that great.

It should have been $40
If it had traditional multiplayer lake slayer and ctf and if the campiagn was two hours longer I would have been fine with the $60

It was ok but I did have a lot of problems with the game, mostly the characters as I didnt feel like they meshed all that well. The story was...barely there, as I recall and it didnt really bring anything new to the game. On top of that generally I found the game to be pretty ugly when compared to other games for the time (even more so now). Probably the most glaring thing, for me, was the price tag. A game I completed in 4 hours I think for $40? No it wasnt worth that price tag. Had it been 30 or less I wouldnt have had any problems with the price

The one thing I will praise it for is it cleaned up a lot of the driving mechanics, ODST was the first halo game where when I drove a warthog I didnt feel like I was going to fly into space when I ran over something as insignificant as a tin can

I think it is. It has a hold over me, and I always feel sad when playing the campaign. The music and dark are effective. Gameplaywise, it's good, and the silenced pistol is awesome. The roaming mode as the rookie was very fun, and as always, co-op was a blast. Should have been given it's own multiplayer in my view.

It was my favorite Halo game.
For me, it had very good atmosphere. You can't really beat exploring a rainy, nighttime city alone.

As others said, great atmosphere on the neon streets of New Mombasa i think?

I liked how you changed perspectives with the soldiers after finding a special item.

The nightvision was damn cool.

Finding the collectables was fun because the enviroment itself "alerted" you when you were near one. Such as signs with arrows, car alarms etc. The ONLY load of collectiables i found ALL by myself :)

Love it. The best atmosphere Halo ever generated.
I actually agree.

I'm one of those oddities that actually likes the Halo series, but tends to like the games other "fans" hate.

I absolutely love Halo:CE, ODST, and Wars. But can not stand 2, 3, or Reach.

You've no idea how much flak I've gotten from the die-hard fans for saying that. NO IDEA.

[edit]
I must say, though, some of the ODST soundtrack didn't seem to fit some of the scenes it was used in. Much of the score felt a bit....hap-hazard; a bit random.

Yes, I'd say it's a good game.

Definitely the most atmospheric Halo game. Greatest soundtrack, too.

I enjoyed it very much.

it was a bit overpriced, but it was quite a good game, and the campaign was pretty different from previous Halo games. the addition of firefight was the cherry on top.

Good Story
Good Characters
Different style to the rest of the halo games
The version I got had the multiplayer disc with all Halo 3 DLC

All good in my eyes.

Eh, it's decent. It was good as I played through it, especially since it arrived a couple of days before I went into an op that meant I had three months off school with nothing else to do, but it had very little staying power. I flew thorough the campaign on Normal, then on Legendary, then got the Recon achievements. Traded it with a friend a while ago for Borderlands.

'Twas awesome. Like my captcha (grilled cheese). Great atmosphere, good gameplay, good skulls, Firefight, DLC from Halo 3, lots of good shit up in there.

Loved it.

I think it's the strongest of the series, with an atmosphere completely unique to the saga and a storyline that is both personal and interesting. The use of an open map to explore was a wonderful addition and I'm disappointed they didn't bring back that formula for Reach. The presence of Nathan Fillion and co. was a delightful surprise.

Also, ODSTs look way more badass than Spartans. That's just fact.
