Since my skills on console FPS are depressingly weak and my skills with PC is through the roof (weak also to be honest) I want to know if Halo on PC is a good buy. I have tried it a bit on Xbox but I can't play with those "thingies". I want to give Halo a shot because I've heard stories that it is really good.

I read a review once that said Halo 2 on PC is constantly bugging. Is it true? Anyway, is Halo for PC worth a shot?

I played Halo on the PC back in the day. I thought it wasn't much fun but that my just be personal (it started out okay, but it became so utterly and dreadfully repetitive after a while). I am not aware that Halo 2 is out on the PC. I would like to try it out if so. Any thoughts on this?

Is the reason that Halo 3 hasn't been released on PC because it's been specifically hyped to sell 360's? Now that's a better question.

EDIT: not really bashing, just more peeved by the whole PR thing

You mean the original Halo: Combat Evolved? It's pretty good. Never really liked it myself though.

Buy CoD2. Better online, better single player. Better everything. Or get CoD4. Or MW2. OR Singularti. OR BIOSHOCK 2. OR Global Agenda. OR-- *Head exsplosion*

Honestly? Unless you really, REALLY prefer mouse and keyboard over controller, stick with the Xbox version. It plays a lot better, because in the end it was made specifically to be a console shooter.

But, one plus is the modding community on the PC version. No single-player mods exist (to the best of my knowledge) but from what I understand the multiplayer mods are very good.

It really comes down to what you prefer. Single player or multiplayer. Either way, I highly reccoment Xbox, but if you hate it that much, go ahead and give PC a shot.

And ignore the Halo-Haters on here. It's by no means a perfect game, but too many people bash it because of the hype and because it "ruined the genre".

Halo PC still has a healthy enough online community. There are like seven patches for it so don't just buy it thinking you can play online right away cause you need the latest patch to go online.

If you really can't get to grips with it on Xbox, Halo is worth picking up on PC. I'd advise against getting Halo 2 on PC, because it ends on a cliffhanger and it's been announced that Halo 3 is going to remain exclusive to 360.

Sorry for the double post but if you're not sure if you want to buy it there's a demo for it so play that and make your decision.

I have Halo 2 Vista and if I could get the damn thing to work right then I could tell you if it's buggy.

Please, bought Cod 4 on release day, have had CoD 2 for nearly year and the rest of the games I've already pre-purchased :p

I've been playing Halo PC since release and it's still fun and has a sizable community. Stay the fuck away from Halo 2PC though as it had unreasonably high system requirements, Vista only unless you download the XP hack, and the online is most likely dead. Halo PC is dirt cheap if you can find it so you might as well give it a spin, just watch out for the half a billion sniper or rocket servers *shudders*. The latest Halo PC patch/update lets you play without the CD finally.

Yeah, but watching the ending of a game on youtube can't be anywhere near as satisfying as actually playing through the game to earn it.

Well, the PC has content not on the Xbox version. like two new weapons and a few new maps. Plus it has a map editor download at Bungie.net or something for the game. Don't forget that it's dirt cheap now and the online is free. If you like Halo, pick it up even if you have the Xbox version. If you don't like Halo, just avoid because nothing is dramaticly different to change your mind.

Well, I wasn't really telling you to buy it. I just thought COD4 is better by pc gaming standards and is a bit deeper. I guess you could always go for UT2004 if you want to buy a new fun game.

You hardly earned it with the boss fight at the end, but I digress.

I wouldn't reccomend either, truth be told, they feel like they belong on a console. Sure they are functional, but after 4 weeks or so, I gave H1 and H2 back to my father and went back to playing TF2 and CoD4. If you are that starved, and have Steam, look up ZenoClash, but be sure you like it by using the demo as a point of reference first. If I had to chose, go with Halo 2. Just because the SP is less shit and the MP, while a pain to set up, is better.
