Hello there escapees! I am taking to my friend and he asked me this:

If you could have one and one only weapon of Halo, what would you have?

Now I struggled to answer, What would you have?

What the hell would I do with a weapon? They're destructive and can only bring people harm.

But in the spirit of this thread... if I wanted a battle rifle, assault rifle or pistol I could probably buy those in real life. For all-out sci-fi fantasy awesomeness, I'm going to have to go with the Spartan Laser.

Shotgun. Nothing particularly special, but bear in mind that they don't actually make 8-gauge shotguns in the real world: the recoil could probably dislocate your arm! Provided I managed to modify it so that that didn't happen, imagine the fun I could have with it. And imagine the noise it would make when you fired it! Glorious!

I know it's been said before but seriously, a weapon that fires beams of pure energy that tear through steel... the spartan laser is the coolest weapon ever.
however I would never actually attack someone and the only use I wold have for a weapon is when the zombies come so I would choose a mounted plasma turret on my balcony.
