Star Fox for the SNES, hard path.

There are other games that are harder I know, but I've never beaten Battletoads so frak off.

Truxton, on the Mega-drive, I don't remember the bugger having any difficulty setting, but I remember it being the only game where I threw a controller ay a wall, I beat it so long ago now I cen't even remember the ending, I'm just happy I beat it.

Me and my brother beat battle toads when we were younger. It took us months. Like months.

I can't really see any of the games I've beatin' so far to be incredibly difficult...

The hardest game I've played (by far!) is Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?, but alas Sir Sweet is one tough bastard...

I'll go ahead and say Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. It took me 5 months to beat[footnote]I consider 'beat' to be accomplish everything possible in the game. That means beat the main story, all the bonus bosses, unlock all the music, and collect all the highest level legendary items... Dood.[/footnote]

Devil may cry 3 was my hardest, still only managed to beat it 3 times on the hardest difficulty to date.

EDIT: Also anyone mind comparing the difficulty to another game people keep saying DMC3 was criticized for its difficulty but I have no point of reference.

I'd say the entire Homeworld and Commandos series. Damn, those games were tough.

The original Ninja Gaiden on the NES. It came down to me memorizing the final Act so I could use the whirlwind ninpo on the final 3 bosses.

I have been trying for years to beat gain ground for the genesis. I almost did too on the sonic mega collection due to the save function, but then my PS3 was stolen. It's like God doesn't want me to finish that game.

Battletoads when I was waaaay younger.

And of course, I Wanna Be The Guy (only on hard difficulty though)

And I think Megaman 2 deserves a mention. On original NES. Without guides, hints, tips or any of those (mainly because none were available where I was at)

I'd say Killzone 2 on it's hardest difficulty, but I haven't dared to try. The final battle was ridiculous even on hard, you have to be utterly precise in every action or you have no chance.

Ghosts N Goblins.
You have to go, beginning to end. TWICE!
-Or was that Ghosts N Ghouls, I mix the two frequently-

Dood? DOOOD! [sub]dooood...[/sub]
I couldn't get through that damn game. Sure they give you 1000 lives. but every fuckin thing kills you! I hit 138 lives before I gave up.

BUt yeah, if we're going my the "completely beat" way of things, then Disgaea 3 is easily my greatest feat. Hitting 10 000 000 000 dmg in one attack took me forever to do.
