I recently finished the FPS "The Darkness". I quite enjoyed the gameplay but the story was down right depressing. This is what id call an immersive shooter because i found myself feeling sad and helpless from certain plot points through out the game, But i finally cracked at the ending (It was probly because i had just tiny bit much to drink). I cryed, it was so fucking sad.

I will stop now and save what man-like dignity i have left.

So have you ever cryed over a videogame or has a game ever triggered some other unexpected emotion?

I do not believe a game has ever made me cry. I've felt emotional before, but I do not believe I was brought to tears.

Final Fantasy X would be the closest I've come, I think, and I was really only sad that it was ending, not because of the actual game.

A few moments have brought me close to tears.

Most recently toward the end of Dragon Age: Origins, just after you have had your final conversation with each member of the party before storming Denerim. You start to walk to the gate and the guards cheer you. One shouts out "kill those godless b*stards".

Ultimately the thought of having to reapply my mascara was enough to make me man up, so i didn't.

FF7 - Aerith's death was sad, not enough to cry
There are a few others that have gotten me close to crying, and closer then FF7, but i can't remember them

... I mean come on... she was my best healer... I spent all the time leveling her up

I've said it before, and I've said it again--if Mother 3 cannot make you cry, you have no soul and a heart of granite. Along the same line is Mission 10 of Elite Beat Agents, otherwise known as the Christmas mission. Your humanity is in question if you fail it.

When Carlos dies in Saints Row 2 I cried. And when my dog got killed in Fable 2.
Nice use of spoilers, dude...

Anyway, no, but it was emotional watching... THE PART at the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2.

Yes. Three times all together.

Once in MGS2 when

Emma died and it was revealed she missed Hal all along.

Again in MGS4 when

Naomi reveals her final message

Then finally in Kingdom Hearts II when

Actually, that whole game was a tearjerker for me

Lost Odyssey has a few moments that were quite sad, but I didn't cry. Also, I felt kinda sad for someone's death in FF7. I don't know who it was because I've never played the game, but I used to watch my cousin and brother play it when I was young.

When Aeris died in FF7
The ending of persona 3
The Viconia epilogue from the Baldur's Gate series.

I didn't actually cry at any of these moments, but I got pretty choked up and teary eyed at least, or spent some time silently staring at a wall.

Lemmings: watching them all plunge to their deaths, it's all my fault!!!

World of Goo: Nooooooooo! I could have saved so many more!!

Plants vs Zombies: NO!!! Not the sunflowers! NOT THE SUNFLOWERS!

But seriously; I cried at the end of KH1+2 (I only finished it this year). When the credits come up it's just a very cathartic moment because it doesn't feel like a happy nding. I'm curently on 358/2 days.

Yes.
Very end of Final Fantasy XIII.

I lost so many man points that day...
In my defence, it was only a couple of tears just snuck their way out. I didn't bawl like a baby who's teddy's head just fell off or anything like that.

Does it make me a terrible person if I actually laughed at that scene?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've never cried playing a game. Probably would have if Tali and/or Mordin would have died in my ME2 playthrough. I can't think of anything else, that would be even close to get me to cry.

At the end of MGS3, when snake finishes off the last boss, I felt sad beacuse of her speach. She just wanted to help her country. I got a bit teary eyed.
