Has a game ever really shocked you?

If they were cleavers why was his body still in a whole form, shouldn't he have been, you know, sliced up a bit more. (P.S. My TV's resolution sucks so it may have been different)

My guess is that it would have been just too much for a mainstream media release and would have turned peoples stomachs. I myself thought exactly the same thing, it should have left the character more messed up physically.

They did refer to the incident on the news stations afterwards and were very clear on the weapon used!

I just finished Red Dead Redemption today.

I really saw it coming, as this game didn't seem destined for a happy ending thematically. But they had those missions at the end where you're just being a dad and a husband. And I was so happy for John. Then that snake Edgar Ross sent his army to the Marston ranch. Despite me almost being certain it would happen, I was still shocked and saddened by the death of John Marston. I have never hated a video game character the way I hate Edgar Ross. I was all too happy to have Jack take vengeance (even though it puts him along same path as his father). For the first time in a video game, I cried some manly tears.

One more time: Fuck you, Edgar Ross.

live at the end because i managed to kill almost every dude in the croud. I had the mauser and i managed to just destroy them, so i totally didnt expect them to fire back and kill me. Probably the best ending to a game ive ever played.

Well.....when Garrus died in my Mass Effect 2 playthrough.

I almost cried when I saw him get carried off by that insect swarm, to be picked apart piece by piece and gobbled up, like a morbidly obese man devours a bacon, lard and fudge cheeseburger.

Damn you all who can still enjoy the pleasure of Garrus in Mass Effect 3!

Reading the wiki made me laugh, because the movie seemed so ridiculous. Based on the scene that upset you so much and the statement that I quoted, it's clear to me that you're easily shocked.

This isn't a contest to see who is the hardcore and who is easy to shock, so I'm not sure why you feel the need to make that point?

I got through Mum & Dad, Devil's Rejects, The Hills Have Eyes remake and Eden Lake unscathed, so no, I am not easily shocked when you compare to 90% of people.

Dying was not what I expected to happen - rounding the corner and seeing the bomb there was like 'oh, fuck.'

There's been a lot of games that surprised me, KOTOR being an obvious example, but very few I'd say 'shock' me. For that to happen I need to be very closely relating to the characters, and normally it's only books that do that for me.
