Now we all know that video games can make you feel emotions , but i want to focus on the negative emotions ( anger/sadness). Now it could be story a story that has made you sad or angry and ruined your day. Or you could have been playing a competitve game ( like COD or SF4) online and it ruined your day . Just curious if it has happened to anybody.

I have had my day ruined today due to UMvC3. I was playing online as i have been for the last month or so . Now i am not a person who typically gets angry when i lose , especially with a game like this, i treat losing as a learning exPerience to get better and improve . But today i played a match online ( well 3 matches against one guy) and i got beat . Normally this wouldn't bother me, but this guy just crouch lowpunched me to death. Losing the first match wasn't too bad , because i put up a decent fight ( he didn't do that the whole match ) , but he realised that that was how i was taking mos of my damage , so the next two matches that followed that is ALL HE DID. At this point i was quite angry but i was more mad at myself for failing to something so simple. At this point , i shruged it off and told myself i have to practice defending my lower body in this game . But the coup de grace was , after i had exited the last match , he sent me a message on xbox live saying: " Hahahahahaha". That is what made my cup overflow . Not only did i lose to something so simple , but my opponent added insult to injury, day officially ruined .

I know i shouldn't let something so childish get to me , i won't quit because of this because i know most people that play don't do this . Ive played for over a month and nothing similar every happened . But still i just feel terrible. I am mad at myself , i am mad at him , just a terrible way to start a day . I have been testy and impatient with people all day , and i am usually not this sensitive , this is a first for me.

Anyways , the discussion value isn't that some people are jerks and like to belittle others . But rather has anything similar ever ruined your entire day.

I had my evening ruined playing street fighter tonight. I got accused of using turbo, and then after one more game, he left. I started talking on the GGPO chat about it, a lengthy rant/plead for understanding, asking for an actual explanation and then he tells me to shut up and stop crying, while insisting that I use turbo.

One of the few things that truly pisses me off IRL is being accused of something that I didn't even do, and then being judged upon it. However, I know I will calm down tomorrow. He may be better at me in the game (he accused me after I beat him once when I switched to my main: honda) but I know well enough he's just being stupid, he's just doing it to defend his ego and he's just hurt that he lost to a casual masher. I've played hundreds of games on GGPO, and only one other person has accused me of using turbo on a laggy online-play client for an old game.

If someone accuses me again of using turbo, I will just dismiss them as being stupid and/or hurt.

EDIT: Nice coincidence that the first two posts are fighting game related lol.

I'm a pretty good healer on WOW but I don't think I'm mega hot stuff or anything but now and again there will be this one guy who decides that he will show everyone how much of a better healer he is and becomes super competitive (which is ridiculous really considering its healing..)

It ruins my day whenever he snootily links me the healing meters or something. Ironically I'm disc and he's holy so he should be doing a massive amount of healing compared to me anyway (he usually does like 1% more) also his over-heal is like 40%...

But yeah it totally winds me up and makes me feel crappy. I'd rather just be friendly with people. I'm not competitive whatsoever.

Sometimes competitive multiplayer but mostly when I A) Die because the game glitched or B) Corrupted saves.

Gears of war 3 made me feel a bit bummed out for the rest of the day but that was about it.

Drawn to life 2 made me feel absoulutely betrayed for a few hours.

Fallout 3 did. After exploring for about 3 hours, discovering a good third of the northern map, and managing to 2 quests, I fell of the highway and died, only to discover I hadn't saved and my last autosave was over 2 hours ago. That kind of shit drives me crazy.

I still haven't finished that game.

Most of the times I just get ticked off when my internet connection messes up my online matches, which it does constantly. I can only play a match or two in any game before I get disconnected or get lagged out. Incredibly frustrating, because I don't get to do online very often, and I want to enjoy it whenever I can. :/

I'll go for a UMVC3 example as well, getting low punched to death is a a ***** but to me getting intentionally timed out is rageworthy. I mean sure if my Phoenix Wright goes all Turnabout + X Factor (which, will happen unless i get absolutely dominated) then sure they're gonna back off a bit (or stall me with hyper combos) i have tactics for both, naturally. But sometimes they can do it for no reason at all or even go into the game from the very start aiming to win by time out. Pure and utter rage.

Also while we're on the subject of fighting games and rage, Hadouken spam, not projectile spam, Hadouken spam. there's something about it that makes me rage way too hard.

Fuck Ryu and Akuma, i despise them with all my being simply for having the capacity for Hadouken spam.

The ending for Final Fantasy XIII left me wallowing in a state of scorn, disgust, and disappointment for the remainder of the day. Does that count as "ruined"?

Heres a tip, when you fall off something that would kill you, save just before you hit the ground, then load the save and you'll have a safe landing.

UMvC3 ruins my day pretty often. I hate when I know I can beat a tactic but it somehow just doesn't happen. When I get beat by lvl 3/4 X-factor Weskers I get pretty livid. Lag also factors into my rage; I hate getting hit when I absolutely fucking KNOW for a fact I was blocking in that direction.

Good keepaway/zoning can piss me off depending on the character. Seriously, try to get a near a good Rocket Raccoon/Viewtiful Joe when you don't have a teleport at all. It's frustrating, but at least they both don't have much health. Morrigan pisses me off as well. Almost everyone who plays her online relies on using the Astral Vision Hyper and spamming Soul Fist and c.L and it will almost always work solely because of online lag. X-Factor doesn't help any of these situations.

Had a good day ruined by some spawn camping once playing 007 Quantum of Solace. Haven't played that game in awhile though.

Huh. I came into this thread expecting something else entirely. No, I haven't had any experiences like that (at least, that lasted more than an hour or so).

I have had this happen, though. Symphonic Rain is probably the biggest example I can think of. The twist of Falsita's story was so upsetting to me I don't think I smiled for a couple of days.

I don't always have bad session of Team Fortress 2 or Battlefield 3, but when I do, everyone fears my rage.

Stay angry, my friends.

I just got done playing Metal Gear solid for like the 3rd time through (fist on this PS3) and I forgot that to start a "New Game+" with all your old stuff you load the old completed save.

I started a new game and figured I would save my progress up to that point when promted, a whole like 10 minutes for of gameplay.

Lo and behold, I had just saved over about 10 hours worth of gameplay.

I sulked for the rest of the evening. I don't mind being killed by scouts as a heavy in TF2 (irritating, but scouts tend to be good) or getting spam or spawn killed, but losing soo much time in a single player game cause of save issues makes me rage

Also, The entirety of The Lost Odyssey.

That game is soo depressing, 2 hours and you need to take a break, for your health's sake.

Battlefield 3, today.

I've been practicing on maps with jets so I can improve my flying skills. But, I always fail miserably. I've counted how many jets I have destroyed in the past 5 hour period = 73. I also see no signs of improvement...

BUT NO MATTER! Peristance, comrades, That is the key to victory!
