I really liked it and have tried to get others to watch it but it was too slow for them. Most of the actual depressing stuff doesn't happen until your a few episodes in unfortunately.

If you like depressing mecha shows I'd defiantly give it a recommendation, just watch a few episodes before making up your mind.

Bokurano Ours? AKA, the story that Madoka Magica completely ripped off. I read the Manga. Go track down the Shadow Star Narutaru manga. It's by the same guy, and I would argue it was even better. It really knocked my socks off. It may be difficult, since not all of the volumes were published here, and the scanlations aren't all in order, but it's totally worth it.

I'm glad someone agrees. Sometimes I feel self conscious picking up so much of the music I listen to from anime. David Sylvian's "for the love of life" from Monster, Susumu Hirasawa's Forces from Berserk and pretty much anything he did for Satoshi Kon. Boa's Duvet from Serial Experiment Lain. Even Unravel from Tokyo Ghoul, and I don't even LIKE Tokyo Ghoul.
