It all seems to just be a matter of opinion.
I love the shows, and always have.
The new ones are just as funny, and I think they have just been getting better.

Well its doing well for what its doing.

I mean in one of the old episodes it becomes extermely raceist its about these black rich guys who move in and everyone burns lower case "t,s" to kick them out they also kick them out of buses and bars sound familler?

and at the end they dress up as "ghosts" to chase them out and mr.garrison say half of a dangerus raceist word if he said all of it south park would have been shut down.
Unless you've seen the SP episode where Randy is on a game show, he's asked the question 'People who annoy you' and he has to fill in the missing letter N_GGERS. The correct answer being naggers as in people who nag, but Randy says the other word, they weren't shut down.
in all those episodes they were probably trying to get a message through, like how the N word is taken to harshly, have you ever thought of how whites feel when we are called crackers?
and the ghost is trying to get through that people should be alowed to make racist jokes, except they did it in a funny matter.

The point with the more recent South Park episodes is: They never take a stand on anything. They show you the issue in a funny way and make you think about it.

This is a good thing in my opionion. Every show/person/book/whatever that takes a stand only shows one side of the issue. It's better to show both sides and let the people make up their mind about it. Only that way can you make people understand the problem. If you just tell them what to think they will get dumber. If you make them think about it they will have their own opinion. *

Take the Whale episode for example:
They could just have said: Whale Wars is stupid, but they didn't. They raised all these points:

- Whales and Dolphins are being killed.
- "Whale Wars" is not the right way to stop it. They are lying.
- The Japanese still haven't recovered from or forgiven Hiroshima.
- We shouldn't tell Japan what to do, we have done enough stupid things ourselves.
- Japan however should follow the other countries example.
- People will do anything to get on TV.

- Probably more that I missed.

[sub]*: Well aware of the irony that I make a forum post telling you what to think about this issue.[/sub]

Yes, South Park lost it. Family Guy lost it. TV lost it. You lost it. I lost it. Your mom lost it. The world lost it. Just can't hang on to money anymore.
Just kidding, I think South Park didn't lost anything. They Evolved with the Times.

South Park has always been hit and miss at times. With that said consistenly it proves, to me at least, that it's the funniest damn cartoon out there. I love the new episodes so far.
^ This.

The new episodes seem to continue the inconsistency really. I didn't find Dead Celebrities to be overly funny (good moments though) but Butters Bottom ***** had me in stitches.

'Know what I'm sayin'?'
'Yes, I think I know what you are saying' = Genius.
Yeah I did like the Bottom ***** episode, but that was a return to form. They should stop bothering with being up to date with current affairs and just focus on characters, rather than using them as a voice of reason.

No.

This season is probably one of my favorites so far.

Butter's Bottom ***** has to be one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen and Whale Wars was hilarious, especially the Poker Face part.

So, no. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have not lost their touch.

I remember reading somewhere that Parker and Stone wanted to stop making episodes but couldn't because they were under contract. .-. If I can find the article/internet rumor/random bathroom stall conversation I'll link it, but that would coincide with a decrease in quality.

It's hard to keep up a good job when you're tired of doing what you do.

I do agree South Park has changed a bit, but i like it because they're able to take silly or simple things (the episode with Bono or the one i saw yesterday with the Harley drivers) and build on them and make them into 30 minutes of fun.

Now i think of it, the "Pandemic" episodes are excellent examples of this.
So simple and silly yet so hilarious.

The Buttersd becoming a "Pimp" episode was horrible, but other than that, no they are still funny in my opinion.

No, the newest ones have been damned hilarious. I loved the last one where they were calling the Bikers Fags. I hate loud motor bikes and I think Bikers are douche bags. I also loved the fact that they were arguing for the fact that the very meaning of the word "Fag" has changed completely and the only ones who don't get it are older people.

Whale Whores was also very funny. South Park all owns cartoons for adults on TV IMHO.

South Park lost it for me when they decided to try and be like Family Guy and start using rape jokes which of course is down to personal taste of not liking laughing about this kinda thing, let's face it it's not the only thing South Park is controversial for though.

On the Simpsons talk I agree with the person who said the first 7-8 seasons we pretty awesome but then the humour started to get a bit repetetive. This happens with a lot of shows though after so many years, perhaps that's why you feel South Park has had it's day too.

I tend to enjoy new episodes when I see them, generally, though I never tune in as a matter of habit.

HOWEVER:

I LOVE THE OLD EPISODES. You remember, when it still looked like construction paper?

Starvin' Marvin? Comic fucking gold.
