Have I Missed Out? Should I Go Back and Play ...

In 2007 I got a xbox 360 and managed to fall into the meta of gaming by playing Call of Duty and Fifa some how I managed to miss out on some of the most loved games series for example, Mass Effect, Uncharted and Dead Space, etc.

For the past year I have thought about buying a PS3 and trying out Uncharted and going back and playing old games (crash bandacoot, Sly cooper, etc).

So basic question; Anything I Missed, any must play game series I should at least try?

The Ratchet and Clank games are some of the best Shooter/performer games out there. Spyro is also good for it's time. The JAK games are all good. Infamous 1 and 2 are awesome. Yeah there are some good games on the PlayStation, I would try at lest some of them out.

Spec Ops: The Line, The Walking Dead, Journey, Mass Effect, Dragon Age (though the last one is better on PC if you have a machine that can handle it.)

Hmm I don't know. I would wait until Sony announces the PS4 on the 20th or so and see if you want to wait until it's out or not. If you can pick one up for cheep for like 100 bucks I would say yeah get it.

I will probs get on eventually, going from PS2-Xbox360-PC, I feel iv missed a lot of PS3 only games.

Yes, get a PS3. The Xbox is not as good as it used to be. Many aspects, along with the loss of 60 USD a year, have turned me off of the Xbox because they made no sense to me. 60 a year, MS? Really? Not all of us are rich. It cracks me up whenever someone says that 5 USD a month isn't that bad. Someone clearly hasn't learned to save.

...Oh, we were talking about games? Get yourself the Ratchet and Clank games (never played All 4 One and not planning to), inFamous, the Journey collection, Uncharted series, God of War, Killzone, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, Disgaea series, Resistance series, Sly Cooper series and Demons' Souls. All good games to play.

Try out the Yakuza games. Mainly 3 and 4. I thought they were great.

What kind of stuff are you into? I could list all my favourite older games, but they may be completely not to your tastes...
I will recommend Enslaved: Odyssey to the West though as a great game that slipped under the RADAR. Pretty accessible to all gamers and a great story!

Older games this generation have some real gems. If you can pick up a copy of "The Darkness" and "Condemned." Condemned can be hard to get into but there are some really great moments in that game. Also you can find them both fairly cheap now.

You might want to see if the PS4 is going to be backwards compatible first, if you intend to get one. That said, the PS3 was 'backwards compatible', and we all know how that turned out.

Lot of good games have already been mentioned, I'd recommend the Resistance series, Ratchet and Clank (excluding All 4 One, personally), Demon's Souls, Metal Gear Solid 4, and although I haven't played them, maybe Yakuza and Infamous. That's all the good exclusives I can think of.

anyway on topic, if you have a decent pc i would recommend the following games

mount and blade warband
dust force
binding of Isaac
cave story
amnesia the dark descent
minecraft

and if you don't have a good pc then I would recommend these games

fallout new vegas (highly recommended, but it is better on pc though)
metro 2033
the darkness 2
brutal legend
borderlands 1 & 2
darksiders
bastion
portal 1 & 2

Sorry, what? You got an Xbox 360, but missed out on Mass Effect . . . which was an Xbox 360 exclusive? What?

With the new console generation coming out, I'd hold off on it until we know if the PS4 will have backwards compatibility. If it does, get it and the following games:

- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Resistance 3 (Resistance 2 is a gigantic pile of tripe - do not ever buy it)
- Infamous
- Infamous 2
- The Last of Us (not released yet, but it's going to be the hypest shit ever)
- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
- Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (optional; it's a big step down from UC2, even if it does surpass it technically)
- Metal Gear Solid 1-4
- Journey (I've heard that Flower and Flow are pretty good, though I haven't played them)

There are a few series and titles that I haven't played (Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Killzone, etc.), so I can't speak to them, but those are what you should have.

. . . Yeah, the PS3 has a lot of good exclusives.

If not, get a PS3 and those games. If possible, get one of the early PS3s that are backwards compatible with everything, since the PS2 was probably the best console ever.
