I'm a tad confused.

Went into Gamestation the other day, and discovered that there was no longer a PC section.

...is everywhere like this? Have I missed some big event in which PC games are no longer in stores?

For a good old bit of extra discussion, how would you feel, and how would affect you if this happened everywhere, permanently?

It seems like the major chain game stores have been edging out of the PC market lately so if they have given it up completely I'm not entirely surprised. I don't think it means that ALL stores have given up PC games, last I checked good ole' Sprawl Mart still has a PC game section.

I'll second that opinion, sort of... EB's PC section gets smaller every month, and It's pissing me off to no end...At least I still have JB, Game and Gametraders.

I think it's to do with Steam. Nearly every game released these days is done through Steam or another online service, instead of a hardware copy.

Because of the success of Steam, it's probable that Gamestation has decided it's less important for them to stock games for people who do (or could) buy them online.

It takes up less shelf-space that way, and makes room for more Guitar Hero controllers and other periferals.

Probably just yours that got rid of it, mine still has one and its is awesome, you can get great older games for 99p - 3.99 and can pick up some real classics cheap.

Yeah, I've noticed this too...

GAME still have one, but I'd go into the local independent game shop if I wanted PC games.

Well, I've never heard of GameStation. But I can walk into any Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, GameStop (should I stoop so low), KMart, ShopKo, or heck, Barnes & Noble or Borders, and buy a PC game around where I live.

Gamestation is now owned by GAME, that's all I know.
My Gamestation has a very small section for pre-owned PS2 games, whereas the GAME about 200 yards away has a large section.
The "retro" section appears to be being phased out, which sucks because they used to have a pre-owned old Xbox in there which I had my eye on to replace my one which died!

Over the past few years i have sen teh PC section getting smaller, now my Gamestop has only a spinning display case and a back shelf for top 5's and the local GAME has 2 backshelves of budget stuff and one shelf of new stuff.

I love my Xbox :p

I never really go to game stores..
Thank heavens for Steam.

Maybe that's why.. They've become redundant?
And there would be no benefits over Digital Distribution if you were to shop in a store..
So.. I don't really care.

My two main sources for games are amazon and steam so I'm guessing I'm in pretty good shape to not have this happen. Though I guess one or the other could go broke over night and close down, let's just hope it's not before my newest box of tat arrives (yeah went with amazon for STO)

I dunno what this Gamestation is, but they sure as shit better not do that to any store I can think. It already boils my blood enough that there are shelves built exclusively for The Sims and blizzard ent. and they almost dwarf the PC section. Granted they are all PC games but maybe I wanna play an actual GAME not grind my way into oblivion or watch tiny people do things.

Yep, same here. Sucks for people who want a physical copy; but I prefer Steam anyway. It's much easier to buy stuff, has better sales and is usually cheaper.
