Have you ever been accused of hacking?

During a TF2 session earlier I was dominating and continually killing a single player. I wasn't targeting him specifically, but apparently he felt like I was hacking. I wasn't and don't. I don't think it's right to do something like that in a game where you're pitted against other players.

He continued his text assault of "wow nice hax" and similar one liners. I told him to go ahead and call in a mod if he thought I was and that would settle it. Mind, the server was one of a group I've played on regularly for nearly two years now.

A mod did wind up showing up, but nothing came from it. It turns out the accuser was the son of the server owner, which I thought was a bit odd. More so, we used to play together regularly and he is a genuinely nice, respectable young fellow, so I was caught a little off guard by his accusations.

He seemed to calm down after getting a revenge kill on me. I can understand his position though, when someone comes along and just kills you constantly it can be pretty frustrating.

So, to the real meat of the topic: Have you ever been accused of hacking? How did it turn out?

Yeah, I got called a hacker by a camper. In MW2 on the derailed map there's that second story building with all the computers in it, and I ran into the room to get a back full of lead. Watching the killcam I noticed he was crouched in a corner with a silenced shotgun, so naturally I assumed he was at least a partially competent camper and that he would routinely move where he was to avoid getting murdered. Since there are only the two corners where you can hide effectively, I took a stab at one of them and he was there. Spent the next four maps claiming that I had glow hax.

It happens now and then when I get a lucky/skilful long range pistol shot in BC2. I just tend to view it as a compliment, as I never hack games.
Slightly off topic, I do detest being called a camper when I am defending an objective though.
To quote Penny Arcade - "It is not the responsibility of the defender to leave the objective unguarded, just so his opponent sucks less."

That's how I took it as well, a compliment.

Great quote as well, very true. It also helps that earlier in that game I was also called a camper for protecting our intel. Go figure.

Yes. A game was really bugging out (I had just learned Javascript) I was accused by my friends.
It was a joke though.

I was accused of modding in a game of MW2, if that counts. I have a mad trigger finger and ran around with a tactical knife and USP knifing anyone in my way and shooting anyone too far away to knife. I racked up a nice amount of kills too. When the match ended I was asked if I was using a modded controller, I didn't have a mic so I didn't respond, however it was all a fast finger, no modded controller.

In Monster Hunter Tri this guy accused me of hacking when we beat an arena quest in about half the time it was to qualify for S-Rank and he thought that was way too fast to beat it. This particular quest was the one where you have to fight an Uragaan and Diablos at the same time. Luckily I was able to convince him that we just had an incredibly good run helped by the fact that enemies can do damage to each other. Then we did a few more runs after that.

Wow, nice. An itchy trigger finger is (almost) always good in FPS games.

Yes, I'd count that situation, considering the people in this thread are being accused of cheating in some way when they weren't.

I'm curious to hear more stories from the rest of the fine Escapist folks.

I was accused of using a modded controller on COD 4 if that counts. In fact I was just really good with semi-auto weapons.

I dunno if I have, probably, at some point... and now that TF2's free-to-play, I'm sure it'll happen a LOT more (playing as a Dead Ringer Spy/Demo who actually aims in a server that's 75% newbies is an utter dream).
the way I see it, if you're not hacking and someone accuses you of hacking, take it as a compliment. wear it as a badge of honor, that you were SO GOOD, SOMEONE THOUGHT YOU WERE ACTUALLY BREAKING THE GAME.

I got called a hacker on World at War because I killed somebody through a wall. That made me facepalm many, many times.

Played MapleStory for a couple weeks. One time whilst playing it, I got a disconnect message, stating Disconnect for reason: 'HACKER'

It was weird. I sent in a trouble ticket, and a GM returned an email stating that it happens sometimes. Feel free to start the game up again and play, should have no problem as long as I'm not really using any cheat tools.

As of late, other things have swallowed up my free time, but I may go back again. Good, free fun, but hard to beat the draw of Terraria.

Accused of hacking in World of Tanks. Ended up just being in the right place at the right time with a big ol' cannon. Also didn't help that I was paired up against tanks that couldn't perform.

I remember the times when camping was noobish, even in S&D kind of matches. You just go ahead and play the best offensive game you can. If you plant a bomb you are very vulnerable. In fact, attacking teams used the bomb planting sound to lure the other team in (or at least let them spend a grenade trying to nade someone that actually planted a bomb. Defensive teams were overall better off just attacking back and paying attention to the planting sound. Sound triggers? Nade once would do if he's actually planting. Since you could throw a grenade halfway across the map, there wasn't really a problem.

Not guarding an objective is no big problem if you can out-kill the enemy, you win.

I downloaded S4 league (look it up, it's pretty neat) some time back and joined a random team dethmatch room, few minutes later i was owning everyone and had a kill/death ratio that was so ridiculously delicious that almost everyone accused me of either hacking, or being a pro player on a new account.

So yeah.

Playing UT2k4 and I was being accused by someone who was seriously using an aimbot.
Really? Really?
