After changing my LoL name to a terribly obscure and non-obvious Persona 4 reference simply because name changes were ON SALE and as such our entire premade team was doing it I thought I may as well make a thread about names.

I love Persona 4 so much I made a reference that people who have already played P4 will probably miss regardless. So meta. I could have gone for Brosuke Hanamura. The option was there, I was tempted but no. Young Detective stands.

[sub]Such a good name to have when playing Caitlyn I swear.[/sub]

Rookie went for a piss easy Baldur's Gait reference. The swine.

I would explain my Escapist name but really, anyone with decent taste in music knows what my name is referencing. XD

As for IRL Daniel is a fucking STUPID name and I should change it to Max Powers or something. So bad. I would change it to something really gimmicky if I tried though... I'll change it to Ezreal! That's cool right?! Right guys?

[sub]Right?[/sub]

I was talking to a couple of friends a while back discussing middle names. At some point in the coversation it was revealed that these two friends I had been close with for over three years had infact not being using their real names the whole time. One of them revelaed that he was actually called Bernard, but because he didn't like the sound of the name he had just started introducing himself as Dave to people. The other had legally changed his second name to Romahrn for reasons that had to do with his dad.

Also I agree, Daniel is a stupid name. Dan is superior.

When I started out on the internet with my little yahoo mail account and YIM I was vash2588 (those numbers recurring because they're awesome numbers). Next came livejournal which ushered in a new name: Enma Daio. I wanted something obscure but something that said "I read manga and watch anime!". So while thumbing through a copy of Fist of the Blue Sky I noticed Enma Daio as the name of a deity who judges souls before sending them to either Heaven or Hell. That sounds just dandy thought I!

I would use Enma Daio dominantly until roughly 4 or 5 years ago when I thought to myself, "Ya know what's awesome? Lovecraft. I don't wanna be the millionth Cthulhu though...and I'm kinda neurotic...so I guess something more fluid and ever changing would describe me...something like a SHOGGOTH!!" hence my current name: Shoggoth2588.

On Facebook, I don't use my actual name. I feel as though my connection to my Dad's side of the family is barely there if at all so once Dad is dead I'm likely going to have my last name legally changed to Rei (Mom's maiden name was Rea so it'll have the same pronunciation). On Facebook I change between Dash Rendar (because Star Wars), Bimmy Lee (because Double Dragon), and Argyle Cumberbuns (because QUIRKY!!). My actual name is Joe.

Online? Hmm, no - not really. My gamer tag, though - yes. I went through several (didn't we all, actually?) until I got to this one and I stuck with it. I wasn't online at the time - we only had the shit Intwrwebs around the time, I did come up with DoPo right at the verge when online play, and access, was becoming more and more wide spread. Well, I also have an alternative gamer tag, I occasionally use, but it's secondary.

Real name - no. I've thought about it, but it's not really a hassle I'm willing to go through. Mostly since if I were to change it, it would just be a shortened form so whatever - I use it now anyway, it'll only change what goes on forms and such.

I don't change my online names, but I do go by a handful of names.

I haven't changed my real name. I have thought about it also because my mom wanted to name me something else than what my dad was ok with, but over the years I start to kinda see the other reason why he wouldn't allow it besides religion. My real name that my dad was ok with is Caleb, and the name my mom wanted to use was Danzig. My friends call me Cable Box or Calobster.

I have never wanted to change my real name. I'm happy with it and there's nothing wrong about it. Except I have no idea how to pronounce it smoothly in English. Which shouldn't be an issue since it is an English name... -_-

My gamertag, thank heavens, has changed with time and games. It started with the truly original and awe-inspiring name "Dark Ninja". Yeah, classic "young-kid-syndrome". Pick two cool sounding, overused words and put them together.

I later had a small period where I chose the name Vaati, after a villain from a pair of Legend of Zelda games (Minish cap is also the ONLY game I've played from the series!). No real meaning behind it.

(Hold on, I'm noticing a pattern here...)

During Counter Strike I picked the atrocious name "Ac!d Pr3d4t0r". Let's not delve deeper into that. Ever again.

Then during a stroke of genius when I had to create an account for Adventure Quest (browser based adventure RPG, haven't played it in ages), at random, I created the name Carrotslayer. Again, it is random and bears little to no meaning. But it has stuck ever since. And it still generates funny responses online from time to time.

Nah, online I'm pretty much Andy Shandy in most places as far as I can recall (although someone here I think pointed out that they know someone who goes about with the same name in some places).

Perfectly happy with my name as it is in real life too.

I did change my Gamertag once though from shandy4life, I then realised that that sounded daft as hell and changed it to WhipYerTroutOut to match a friend's WhipYerCodOot, which was a random phrase we ended up saying whilst playing CoD.

Lol, my gamer tags before this one were the same! xD I actually finally changed over to this one because I was sick of them and this was just neutral, not trying to be edgy and kewl - I had Demon, Dark, Dark Man, DreamEraser, DreamReaper, Doom (which shortly after turned into LorD_DooM) beforehand to name a few of the ones I used the longest[footnote]yeah, weirdly, all start with D for some reason. It's not a conscious decision I made, though, I'm not sure how that came to be[/footnote]. In fact, this one came as a result of misspelling my previous one - I managed to hit P between the two Os and got LorD_Dopo, so eventually I dropped the obnoxious title and capitalised the P (well, OK, that was reaching for some kewlness) and that's it.

I've changed my internet alias more times than I can remember. I just can't seem to stick with any one name for very long.

I usually go by some variation of Harley Quinn. Yes I do love the character, yes I do know it is not the most original name in the world, but I don't know, something about that character speaks to me.

I recently found out that my great grandfather was Polish and had fled Poland just before WW2. When he got to England he changed his name Krakowski to a more englishy name n order to get work. I have considered changing my surname so that I would be Katie Krakowska because it rolls off the tongue so easily.

Every account since I was 10 has been janjotat which is a reference to something in star wars. I will mail you a batch of cookies if you know the character. I use that even though I could use my real name since its so obscure which is Lesyk in case you were wondering.

I've gone by a few different names online, mostly because having a character named 'shrekfan246' in World of Warcraft seems a bit silly to me, but if I haven't used my first name, I've generally gone by this username, actually.

Dunno why. You'd think that as an aspiring writer, I'd think of something more creative than a username my brother helped me make just over a decade ago. But it's just kind of stuck with me.

I was originally Firaga Metagross, then I changed to infernocheeze, then I changed to Sextus, scion of crazy.
sextus, scion of crazy is too long, so now I'm just sextus the crazy or sextus. won't change that for a while.

IRL- I like my name a bunch and wouldn't change it.

My first username I stuck with was "tyrael51," simply because "Tyrael" was taken in the ancient MSN chatrooms, and I loved the fuck out of Tyrael when I was little. When I made a LoL account, I tried the same thing with the same results, so I decided that it was time for a change. I picked the character that says one of my all-time favorite quotes, the Orzhov Ghost Councillor Vuliev: [mtg_card=Castigate]

IRL, I've never changed my name. I'm comfortable with either Dave or David, so I just let people use whatever's comfortable. Gotta say, though, there is a little temptation to change my actual name to Vuliev. :p

Well, I've never changed my real name and probably never will. I kinda like it. I was born a Murray and a Murray I shall remain, even if I was named after a bloody river and even if it does sound kinda goofy with my second name.

I used to use a couple of different online handles, but they were incredibly stupid and I shudder with horror at the notion of them being connected to me. Now I just use "Zhukov" or variations thereof.

I still have my old moniker of IamZim11 which I rarely use any-more. Generally I go with 'Ed130' everywhere, occasionally adding 'The Vanguard' afterwards to extend it/make it unique/because some-one else got it before me.

Over the years on the internet I've used: Kal (on ICQ), Ayala(on the sites I used/visited between 1999 and 2006), Fluffy (in FPS games and on a friends forums), Eleu(thera)(started in WoW, now in use nearly everywhere), Ash (a few times in FPS's with a particular friend) and a few variations of those.

In real life I use my actual name 90% of the time, but use a shortened/internationalised name when in international company.

Well, i was born Richard and called Dick as a kid. This was back in the 70's when Dick was a popular name associated with heroic characters (Dick Barton, Dick Tracy etc). As i hit my teenage years the american usage for Dick started getting more popular and by then it was too late to ask people to call me Richard or Richie or anything less embarassing so yeah i changed my RL name about 20 years ago, nowadays only one or two people outside my family remember i ever had another name.
