My friend just showed me this game today. Looks awesome and it sounds like it has a lot of wonderful concepts including using the Wii to its full capacity, making a real SURVIVAL horror game and several other features that can be read in this article.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/946/946492p1.html

I have never heard of this game until today, and the main reason I'm starting this thread (i'm pretty sure this is already a thread, but when i typed "winter" into the search bar... well... its a common term) is because no publisher is picking it up (apparently the concept of a mature game on a "kids" console wouldn't sell well... i see that logic, but i really would like to see this game out...) and I'm unsure as to the public awareness of this... (in my words) gaming tragedy.

in all honesty i would buy a Wii just to play this game(because i loved silent hill 2 so much that survival horror is one of favorite game genres now).

I'm not exactly sure if we could like... start a massive movement or something... or just show the publishers that we'd like to see this game come out... Then again, i don't know, i'm pretty sure that 90% of the people that see this will probably hate the game off the bat... well... post your opinion!

It looks like a great concept. I really hope it gets through production. There really needs to be more games of this depth an seriousness on the Wii. The console has so much potential that goes often ignored...

I'm no graphics whore, but that thing looked like a PS1 game, except for better lighting. Also, what was with the Lord of the Rings music?

I'm not much of a survival horror player anyway, so I'll pass on this.

Hm. Looks interesting. The flashlight mechanic looks cool. A good use of the Wiimote.

I agree that the controls look wonky, but I am going to add "and uncooperative." It pretty much looks like another Silent Hill game set in The Mist by Stephen King set in the '82 remake of The Thing.

AH-HA. Thank you. I meant to mention the music, but it slipped my mind. I knew it was familiar though...
Lord of the Rings? Are you sure?
It totally is.

I dunno. This game doesn't look like anything new: just a bunch of old ideas reiterated in a bad format. The flashlight mechanic, in conjunction with the Wiimote, might be cool, but I think it would just cause problems that would be solved with better controls on a better controller.

Sorry, but it's a pass from over here.

The graphics are kinda meh, but I'm jonesing so bad for a survival horror game that I'll take it with open arms.

It looks like crap, and it really looks like it's not utilizing any of the Wii's tools to even close to their fullest potential. It looks like it could just as well be on any platform out there.

But that said, it's also a good thing, being a fresh take on games for the console, and a bold move, and a concept that could be good. Perhaps it could pave the way for something that really is good.

What should be done is get the team that made Penumbra, and have them do it. A physics based game, from a first person perspective that really puts the player in the character's shoes. That's utilizing the wii's potential, and could prove a truly terrifying experience, more so than any horror game so far.

I thought you were talking about the season... =\

But as long as it's something new and interesting I'll consider getting it and not that crap EA wheels out year after year with only slight technical upgrades and 1 or 2 new features *cough*Medal of Honour*cough*

*Presses face to wall*

Forcing the Wii to do things like this is teaching a dog to do accounting. Sure, it might be novel and it might do a few sums... but for fucks sake, if you want it done, why not drop the gimmick and just get an accountant?.

The Wii might be able to pull it off. But it'll be the Wii pulling off a genre it can't do, and therefore a very novel way to waste your money. I like the Wii, but it should do what it's good at and stop stumbling about like an excited teen.

They probably used LOTR music as a placeholder - it is development footage after all, they may not have finalised the soundtrack at the time.

Kind of reminds me of "Penumbra: Overture", but mostly in third person and with more point-and-clicky mechanics and freaky Silent Hill/Quake II (+IV)-like monsters.

I liked the emphasis on the snowstorm being as much (if not more) of an enemy than the actual horrors, and the flashlight mechanic looks neat.

Furthermore, it's just nice to see a survival horror game that focusses on survival and horror over... say... combat and shooting.

I don't much care about graphics, and even with my limited knowledge, I'm able to understand that this video was a developer demo that was sent around looking for publisher, and likely not the final look of the game.

Shame it won't come out. I'd have played it.

Is... is your avatar pic a video of Street Fighter's Zangief jumping out of the bushes and attacking a small child??

There's another thread you should turn your attention to:
