Years ago, sometime after Soul Calibur 2 was released, I went to a gaming convention with some friends who had a booth there to help out. The gaming in question was more pen & paper or trading card based, but there were some consoles set up and it was announced on the first day that there would be a Soul Calibur 2 tournament the second day.
I convinced my buddy, who I always played SC2 with, to stay up all night and play with me so I could "practice". When the time came for the tournament, I hadn't slept, and I just wanted to get it over with.
2 brackets were set up, and I ran through mine very easily, mostly silent as I sat next to my competitors. I ran through the field so quickly, I was slotted in the final before the other bracket was through the quarter finals. I walked over to watch them play, found the leader and stood a few feet back, watching him - not his character on screen, but him. He was trash talking and trying to get in the face of whoever he was playing against. Big, tough guy trying to physically intimidate people in a video game tournament. Well, I knew what to do against him.
Came time for the finals, and he sat next to me and started to get in my face. I jumped up, called the guy running the show over and said loudly "Hey, I wouldn't mind if this guy tried to trash talk me, but this guy is seriously trying to make out with me. I mean words are one thing, but I don't need this dude trying to shove his tongue down my throat."
He freaked, started screaming "I'm not gay, I'm not gay!" The official told him to sit down and stay away from me. I turned to the guy and apologized and then told him to make it up to him I'd let him pick the character I'd use in the final. He thought I was bluffing but I was serious (I'm pretty good with all the characters), and he chose Taki.
"Are you sure?" I said. "I'll double perfect you if I'm Taki." He didn't believe me.
I double perfected him, won a $125 gift certificate, and went to sleep.

Any other stories of victory out there?

I've won a local Super Smash Bros. tournament. There was no prize.

I've won a Review of the Month contest, and got a $30 Amazon gift certificate.

Does the Escapist PC TF2 community tournament count?
If so, yes, yes I have.

I won the Ms. Pacman part of a tourny trilogy hosted by MTV once. The Halo 2 winner and Tony Hawk winners each got a leather jacket, $100, and a surround sound system. I got a pink and white Avon make-up bag. The eyeliner totally went with my beard though.

Me and a group of my friends won a CS tournament some years ago in our local LAN cafe if that counts, but it was laughably small (something like 8 teams).

Third, guitar hero tournament, world tour.

Every other contender said I was the best guitarist though, so I won ego points.

I won a rock band tournament at my school once, which isn't much to brag about seeing as I was the only person to play expert drums.

Three local Guitar Hero Tournaments, and I'm currently arranging a team for an upcoming Rock Band tournament. I've made about $300 out of Rock Band now, which makes up for the cost of $200 for the full kit, and all my downloadable content.

I have. Years ago in the same anime convention.
The First time in Melee, I got second place with Mewtwo
The Second Time, I got first with Mario.
And not really a tourny but players had to pay $1 to play a 2min round of Melee. The Prize was a shirt. I payed. Everyone pick Fox,Falco and C.Falcon, I picked Mewtwo(3rd best). They laughed, I dominated with 5 K.O's and won the shirt.

In a different convention, This time it was Brawl. I picked Lucario(My best) and wiped the competition. Those Meta Knight and Snake players had nothing on me.

I don't do tournaments anymore. Esp Brawl/Melee ones. Players would annoy me with the characters I picked.

I used to consistently dominate local LAN tournys we set up in highschool. Back when we played Quake II and Unreal Tournament Classic. That is, unless my best friends dad played with us. He was in the top 50 Quake players in the US at one point, so we learned from the best.

That is where I was named Trickyfingers. I work magic with my mouse and keyboard...

Me and three friends got second place in a rock band tournament a year ago. We won 250$, or about 60$ each. If I had known that we would be playing "Run to the hills" instead of "Cherub Rock" for the finals we might have won. Unfortunately, I didn't know, and it's hard for me to switch from doing a Billy Corgan imitation to my Bruce Dickenson imitation at a moments notice.
