(not entirely sure what the term is)

Have you ever seen a link to something read it and click another link and spend hours on end by looking at some random topic? If so how long did it take you to notice that you've spent about an hour searching for Blank?

Nope. I usually follow things that are related. I get bored after a few clicks.

The term is Wiki Walk.

And yes, if I go to TVTropes I'll be there for the next 14 hours just clicking on random links and generally wasting time, regardless of whether I want to or not.

My god, yes. Luckily, I haven't been to TVTropes in weeks, and I don't plan on starting soon.

When WikiWalking, I like to open the link in a new tab so I don't lose my place.
I do this, and then it ends up with me having about twenty or thirty tabs, all of them a different page on TVTropes.

Yes, all the time. On the bright side, I think I'm immune to TvTropes. I think I've read them all....

I do this too, but I end up opening so many new tabs that I lose place anyway. According to my tab add-on thing for Firefox, my record for Most Tabs Open is 297. I spent maybe 6 hours on Wikipedia, several game related Wikis, and TV Tropes at once.

You're really not helping me kick the addiction.

I never got TvTropes, but I've been Wiki-Walking before. Usually self-diagnosis crap when I'm in an anxious mood, in which case, I can wander for hours before I come to a conclusion as baseless as the problem I'd been anxious about. Then I "wake up" a couple days later and wonder what the hell I was thinking and go back to being sane.

Who doesn't? Seriously, I'd always assumed everyone did that.
