I recently got GTA: V after seeing my flatmate enjoying the hell out of the online mode on his PS3. It looked like such an awesome amount of fun that I really wanted to get involved. The problem is, I use an X Box 360 and I've never been able to get it online.

Whenever I try I get the error code - 40A3 - 0000 - 3080 - 050C - 8007 - 2EE2

I've checked on the official X Box help page but the best they can offer is "I 'unno, clear your cache or something?" I tried that anyway, even though that deletes the game and my save content. It didn't work.

I am not good at this kind of stuff. Has anybody ever beaten this error code before? I really want to, not only go online with GTA: V but also get ahold of some sweet, sweet Skyrim DLC. I hear there's a thing that'll give me the ability to use crossbows. That is everything I want to be a part of.

Clearing the cache won't delete your game and save content, all it would do is delete the temporary files in the cache.

Your game data and save content are permanent files stored on the HDD, so if you're somehow managing to delete them while attempting to clear the cache, then you're either not clearing the cache but manually deleting those files, or you're formatting your HDD (which also isn't clearing the cache).

How old is your Xbox, what version of the dashboard do you have, and how long has it been since you haven't been able to go online?

If you've been offline for a while, then you'll probably not have the most up to date version of the dashboard your problem connecting online could be because you have a corrupted dashboard/OS.

Just follow the instruction for updating your system via USB and see whether that fixes anything, because it's more than likely that the problem is either caused by software, or hardware.

If it's a software problem, then you should fix it by installing the latest update.

If you manage to install the update OK but the problem still persist, then it's most probably a hardware problem with the Ethernet port/Wireless adapter, or with your router and internet, but at least if you've updated the system to the most current version, you'll have eliminated the most obvious cause.
