Once upon a time there was an ideal actor who had great potential. While he had a spot on some prime time television shows, his career didn't seem to really be going anywhere. That is until George "Franchisacide" Lucas crept out from under a giant metal door, picked Hayden up and tossed him down the hatch with no large femur's in sight to keep those gaping jaws open to facilitate escape.

Hayden hacked, slashed, and got digested just enough to remained scared by the beast when it was carved open by nostalgia and he escaped to move on with his career. But Lucas's rancor taint remains to this day around poor Hayden. He may still be a competent actor, but we'll always just remember him as an emo mama's boy who went sour over a chick.

What other unsung actors or actresses got or SHOULDN'T have gotten their big break? Who do you think had marvelous potential but you're disappointed that you haven't seen much of since their youth? Who do you think was given one and really shouldn't have? Give examples and your thoughts.

I for one miss Azura Skye. She was spunky, had a unique voice, but sadly she's still stuck at temporary primetime hell. In my opinion she would have made a great young Dr. Carol Marcus in the remade Star Trek movie, but I guess they put that character to bed right around the time Shatner decided to start screaming at walls and call it masterpiece.

I think you're getting things wrong...

Star Wars didn't ruin Hayden Christianson. Hayden Christianson ruined Star Wars.

EDIT: Eh, ok, I shouldn't say that. Hayden Christianson ruined Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars is still awesome.

Whoever was in those Borat and Bruno movie. Oh sure, they're great movies but quite frankly I'm going to slit the throat of the next person who says "very nice" in a Borat accent.

The Moar You Know;
Christopher Walken was [i/]thiiis close[/i] to getting the job for Han Solo instead of Harrison Ford

Watch him in something, anything other than Star Wars and he actually is quite a good actor. Not implausably so, but still considerably more competant. I blame the script and the directing myself.

I do partially agree with you... but you see, the problem is that half the time when Hayden is trying to sound dramatic, his voice cracks like he's still going through puberty.

He was OK in Jumper, but I still label him as a mediocre actor in potentially good roles.

I somehow hope Felicia Day stays under the radar a little longer. I liked her since the Guild and just realized that she's been in several series. You know those people you see in EVERYTHING without knowing their name?

But I think it's worse when a band comes out the underground that you've followed for years and suddenly everyone looooves their songs Y-Y

How do you explain *shudder* Jumper?

You can't. You can only lay down and cry yourself to sleep.

I was all for saying Hayden killed Anakin, but if you think about that lil whiner who played him in Ep 1.. come to think of it, the Anakin Skywalker actor/character. He only mattered once he became Vader. And then James Earl Jones kicks everybody's ass and makes them like it.

Also I agree that Jumper was halfway decent, but it was the prime example in my train of thought when I was explaining the stench and partial digestion of Lucas. I think Christianson could have been a great actor if George hadn't taught him to be a total nugget in front of a camera.

Hayden CHRISTENSEN.

And while on the subject, he did Darth Vader/Darkside Anakin pretty well, which as I understand it is why he was cast in the first place. He just fell flat on most other parts of the role (love scenes, banter etc) but to be fair, bad writing/directing probably played a huge part.

Never seen Broken Glass, but I heard he's pretty good in it.

Oh My Word... that would have been AWESOME!!! "Hey, stop with the shooting of the lasers already... come on... Cos'... if you dont... I'll be FORCEd to stab you in the eye with this lightsaber..." XD

Oh, and it was Sasha Baron Cohen who created and plays the characters Ali G, Borat and Bruno.

That's a very good point. I thought he did a good job at showing us the transformation from seemingly good Anakin to the darker Vader. The love scenes were awkward not really because of him, but because they were out of place. Love worked in the first three movies made, but it seemed awkward in the last three. At least whenever a strange scene occurred MacGregor (Obi-Wan) appeared to save the movie.
A person who should not be given much screen time: Michael Cera. I don't watch his stuff much, but when I do he is unimpressive.

I've never understood this, even though i've seen/heard that point of view before

No disrespect, just guessing here, but is it cause it makes you less special/individual/repelish or something? Or is it just resent for the majority, and and unwillingness to be in the same boat as them?

I'm not tryng to be rude, i just don't understand

That lies solely on George Lucas and his bloody writing, not going into yet another rant on that fucking series...yet.

Anyway Hayden is mediocre at best hes like Christian Bale in that way hes a method actor sure he can do what he does ok but try geting him to convey anything else and it all falls appart, and chewing scenery can only get you so far.
