A new streaming service called HBO Max will launch on May 27.

Here are some of the shows that will be on the service: https://www.hbomax.com/

Are you interested? I think it'll be a better service than Disney+, simply because it has content that appeals to adults, as opposed to the strictly family-friendly content on Disney+. That, and HBO Max will have more original content.

I don't think it will be a better service than Disney+. However I do think it will be a complimentary service. Disney+ has loads of content from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel for kids and family and then once you send them to bed, mum and dad can then turn over to HBO Max for content for them.

That's nice, I guess. I have not touched HBO in years. I got so many movies and TV shows at this point, that it wouldn't do much for me. Best of luck to them though.

Wow it's not available in Canada
Apparently that's due to existing licensing deals made with Canadian media companies. It's not rolling out in other countries either for the same or similar reasons.

Anyway, one more $15 streaming service, one more splintering of the market. I know HBO was never on Netflix, but I wonder how much you need to pay in subs now to get all the content that used to be covered by a single sub.

No. I prefer to watch most of my TV shows on Blu-ray or (if unavailable in high definition) DVD. Streaming quality is so disappointing even on a high speed connection. And HBO's quality is apparently worse than most. Though, they don't even do very good Blu-ray transfers. The darker scenes in Game of Thrones season 8 looked lousy. So much pixelation and color banding in "The Long Night" episode.
