And I need your suggestions!

Nothing too pricey of course, but nothing that will break down because of loudness. I've already had to default/older pairs break because of my tendency to listen to music at the max. level.

Annnnd, go!

I say Skullcandy is good, lifetime warranty, affordable, and not bad quality.

Big variety you can look for, and you can get the color to match your player, OMG!

I'd advise against earbuds, as they cause more damage to your ear.
Your ears are designed to help filter out louder noise. Earbuds go directly into your ear. Want to keep hearing when you're older? Get 'phones.

Everglide headphones. I got a pair for like $20 and they have amazing sound. Very comfortable and not too heavy at all.

If you watch [a href="www.woot.com"]Woot![/a] you may find a good deal sometime (that's where I got mine).

[a href="http://www.everglide.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=44"]Here's the site.[/a]

Edit: Woah! Those aren't the same ones I got (which should be clear from the price), but they look exactly the same.

Double Edit: Looks like I lied. Those are the same ones. When I bought them they were apparently doing a crazy deal thing. Lucky me, but now I'm of no use to you. Sorry.

I thought it's the sound waves that damage your hearing, not the medium. If the sound waves don't lose decibels on its journey into your ears, you just have to lower the starting volume.

But if you have them at the maximum volume non-stop, it would indeed be better to use headphones, since their maximum volume tends to end lower than the earbuds' maximum volume, unless they're special ones.

Anyway, I myself need some new earphones/earbuds as well. I generally look for what's pretty cheap and has a rubber lining that's not detachable. Those tend to be the most comfortable.
As for sound quality, at a price range of about ?8-?15 the sound quality should be acceptable from most brands

God I hate the earbuds that go really deep into your ears... *shudders* I use the standard zune earbuds, they work fine and haven't broken because I don't listen to music at stupidly loud volumes.

I tend to avoid listening to my music at high volumes actually, it's just that the past two weeks have been hard on my old phones what with being in Myrtle Beach over Spring Break and trying to drown out the idiots on my bus.

Thanks for the replies thus far, keep them coming.

Get behind the ear style headphones, they stay on a lot better than anything else.
Okay, that's totally [not] what I'm looking for...

Hmmm, I think some players tend to have a louder output then other, I suppose any that come as default on those would suit your needs. However, I'd recommend not listening to msic on the loudest setting too long, screws with your hearing, and you need that if you want to be listening to things in the future :D

Really don't get that style of headphones, I have a set, and it's sodding uncomfortable if you wear them for more than 20 mminutes. Dunno whether it's the set I have or the design in general, but I'd recommend against (even if youve said no already).

Skullcandy make good headphones. Don't go with the earbuds, though.

The only problem with their work is they tend to break fairly easily, if you're not careful with them. Hence, I believe, the lifetime warranty.

If you're willing to spend that little bit extra, go for Seinheisers. They are amazing, fairly strong and very comfortable.

Audio Technica are also a good option, although you have to be careful. Their price:quality ratio varies. [http://www.audio-technica.com/world_map/]
