This is going to make or break him, and Im afraid the pharmaceutical lobby has already done irreparable damage to his reform campaign.
The reality is, the hospitals and pharmaceutical companies dont want to see any kind of reform, because they know any savings for us means they lose profits. But they also know that while we debate the merits of this or that issue, it pushes any legislation back, therefore they want us to continue to argue, continue to bicker, until hopefully (for them) the whole thing falls apart in a partisan mess like it did 15 years ago under Hillary Clinton.
Amazingly, people who dont agree with Obama's politics have taken this opportunity to side with pharmaceutical lobby and campaign against any kind of reform. But really, if you truly are an American patriot, if you really do love this country, dont you want to see health care reform?
Dont you think its embarassing that people in Canada, Mexico, and even Russia laugh at not only the cost but also the poor quality of care available in the US? We are the richest nation in the world, yet we cant take care of our sick people at a decent cost? And yet there are legions of people who are against any kind of reform, is if health care reform was fascism. Its very, very sad, and somehow not at all surprising here in America, where we make mistakes generation after generation, yet never learn from them.
