now, I might get punched for reminding you(or telling people who don't know about it) but, the wife of the first minister of the northern Ireland was having an affair with a 19 year old, but I'm not here to judge, so I'll get to the funny part: the Simon and Garfunkel song "hello misses Robinson" rocketed up the charts in Ireland fallowing the events. for those of you who don't know, the song is about an old women having an affair with a college kid. I thought this was a little funny, especially that they where reporting it in America(where I live). if this offends anyone, please take it down. I don't want to be mean, just to state a rather funny fact. I don't want to make fun of the Irish at all, in fact, my family is from there and I think highly of the country as a whole.
and I guess to have a discussion, is there any other time where things like this have happened?

Haha, this made me laugh - ironically, of course. The Queen of Ireland? That's pretty funny.

I'm pretty sure we never had a queen.

Well, not in recent times anyway.

Ever.

Seriously.
sorry, the report I read said Queen. I am not kidding.
The report you read was false then. Can you link it? Or else you're trolling the Irish. Hmmmm.

Ireland has a Queen?

Northern Ireland kinda shares a Queen with Britain for reasons I wont go into, but the rest of Ireland is a Republic...

And I dont like that song. It's not one of their best, in my opinion.

We've never had a queen, we have a president. It's largely ceremonial compared to the Taoiseach (prime minister)

The pres you refer to is Mary Robinson, labour. I believe there was some scandal, yes.
Ah, so it was merely ignorance. *sigh of relief*

Also I think Hello, Mrs.Robinson was done by Simon and Garfunkel, not the Beatles.

First of all, the song is by Simon and Garfunkel, not the Beatles.

Second, this article [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/northernireland/6974898/Iris-Robinson-Facebook-campaign-to-get-Mrs-Robinson-song-to-no-1-on-pop-charts.html] states that the woman in question is the wife of Northern Ireland's first minister. In addition to assuming that a republic would have a queen, you appear to have identified the wrong country, as well.

Dear god. NBC do not do their research at all.

That's like saying that China is a democracy.
they are normally good, but they didn't just drop the ball, they tossed it at the face of journalism after gluing a spike on it.

I think you should have done the thread instead.

That is pretty funny, the whole misshap with the Mayor of New York was pretty funny, or Bill Clinton.
