I need some help finding a fantasy book series ( I remember reading at least two of them) that I was reading three to six years ago, but I can't remember the title or the author.
Here's what I can remember.
1. One human army used repeating crossbows (complete with detachable magazines of bolts).
2. The main character was part archeologist, part treasure hunter (I think)
3. I'm pretty sure the main character was named Jason (and spelled Jason).
4. The world/series contained demons.
5. The main character's father turned to demon magic/ became a demon to beat his personal enemies
6. There was an army/group of magic-using demon hunters that tattooed themselves
7. There was an army/religion that thought tattoos and anything that changed or marked the body was blasphemy.
8. The series was fairly new when I started reading it (published after 2005 for sure).
