I am going to pick up my Remington 30-30 Lever Action Rifle tomorrow, and am going to purchase another rifle as well. My choices from my favorite gun store are

1 http://www.raacfirearms.com/Saiga.htm

2 http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/rifles/su-16a/

If anyone has any knowledge on the subject I would apreciate some input, thanks.

Sorry I don't know much about semi-automatics, I'm from Australia. What's the gun for?

For the love of god, GET THAT SAIGA!

Had one myself for a while. One of the best rifles I've ever fired.

Its the 7.62. Is that the one you had? and I love the look of the rifle so I'll most likely get that one :)

Target shooting, and maybe hunting sometime.
Well the Kel-tec takes AR15/M16 STANAG magazines, it already has rails mounted and has nifty features like the fore-end bipod and mag space in the stock, so that would swing me towards it. But I have no knowledge about the accuracy or reliability of either gun.

'Fraid not. I had the .223 caliber setup. The only differences I see are

A) Your targets will take one hell of a beating, and B) the ammo isn't as cheap or plentiful (in the states, at least).

It's a great rifle, though. Truly.

OP: First, turning to this audience for an opinion may be a terrible idea. Relatively few are terribly knowledgeable about actual firearms. Most know a great deal about video game firearms, and a sad portion of them have somehow translated their video experience into a delusion that they actually know jack about the topic.

Second, without an idea why you want the firearms, there's no point even discussing an opinion. Ditto for your experience, size, comfort level with various features, budgets, etc.

Without a clear statement of experience, purpose, budget, availability in your home nation and state/province, reason and frequency of use, physique, and so on, anyone giving you advice is giving you bad advice. And if you can't answer all those questions immediately, you probably shouldn't buy until you're ready to answer those questions.

Edit: Based on an earlier post, target shooting and maybe a little hunting. Ok. Hunting what? Target shooting under what conditions? How much are you willing to blow on ammunition? How often? Is this a type of weapon you've fired before? Etc, etc. I think any advice you get until you answer those questions is inherently bad advice.

The Su-16a seems more fun, but that's just my opinion.

I'm going to generally agree with Thedoclc.

Also:
Were those your only choices?
You appear to live in California, which raises a whole range of new questions - which I'm reluctant to get into.

As a Michigan resident, I have fewer restrictions, but probably much better selection.
I didn't buy anything until I had done my research. I'm not going to list them here, but I'm pretty happy with the firearms that I chose.

I've held a rifle similar to the SU-16 before, and I liked how it felt in my hands. Plus, 5.56 mm is a good round for target practice, and it can be good for hunting smaller game.

I'd say go for that one, but both look appealing if you're just target shooting.

Both of those guns are only suitable for hunting people, and not animals, somebody v& this guy.

Wanna target shoot and hunt animals? Buy a hunting rifle, not a high powered assault rifle that has horrible accuracy beyond 100 yards.

Try something in the .22 caliber range. You only need a rifle of those calibers if you're hunting 30 foot tall bears.

To summarize; get a bolt action .22 for target shooting and hunting. The remington is probably going to be using low powered but high caliber shells seeing that it's a lever action, so skip that one too.
