I have a bird that needs a home and a little TLC. If anyone would like to adopt it, or knows someone who would, I would love to hear from you!
Backstory:
Yesterday a white bird flew into our apartment complex (lots of trees and a creek here), and today I found it on the ground around where seed falls from the bird feeder I keep. It turned out to be a beautiful white pigeon with a little black on its tail, and it looked like it was injured. After feeding it my partner and I discovered it couldn't fly and that it had some blood on its wings.
We took it to the Audubon Society to be checked, but kept it since they are required as a provision of their rehabilitator's license to euthanize non-native birds (I'm in Portland, Oregon). It turns out the reason it could not fly is that the feathers on its wings were all broken as a result of poor nutrition when it was growing those feathers, and the blood was a broken blood-feather, or feather that was growing and still attached to a blood vessel. The bird is also really thin and malnourished, but not enough to justify euthanasia they said. It just needs food and care while its feathers grow back.
They cleaned it up and gave us some seed, but we can't take care of it forever. First, we live in an apartment complex that only allows cats, dogs, and fish, and second we cannot afford to care for another pet since we are both unemployed.
I was hoping someone on here might keep birds, especially pigeons, or know someone who does, and want to add a really beautiful white pigeon to their flock. Please PM me if you are interested, or leave suggestions in the comments, I could really use the help!
Picture of the pigeon (we don't know the gender, so we've been calling it Gaga, since Lady Gaga was on the radio when we got the news the bird would be okay).
EDIT:
Wow, guys, seriously? If you don't like pigeons don't post. This is in the off topic section for a reason! Of course it has nothing to do with games. I only posted here to see if any other US escapists happened to be bird/pigeon keepers because this is one of the better communities I know. I thought that at least some of you might be interested in animals, no need to be mean because its a pigeon.
