Help! Steam in China

Hey fellow escapists! This might seem like a silly question but I'm heading over to China in August to teach for a couple of years and I was wondering if I will still be able to access steam the same way as I do over in Europe, i.e be able to freely download/buy games that are available over here.

Probably worrying over nothing, but that mighty firewall is a bit terrifying as I know for social media/certain websites I need a vpn to access.

What other people have reported is that steam isn't blocked. If your billing address is in a country, you will always be using that country's steam storefront. Whatever is available at home will be available when you are in China. However the great firewall of China slows speeds down dramatically, so downloading will be very slow.
