This will be my first time running an Eclipse Phase game of my own design and I need some help working out how to start off the game. The adventure will be primarily political intrigue surrounding the newly formed Morningstar Constellation.

I'm aiming for lots of investigation and political dealings rather than anything based around Firewall. My players will be starting off on Venus and get involved with the dirty dealings of the major political parties as they try to steer Venus towards their ideals.

I have the basics of the conspiracies worked out but not sure how to work out the hook to get my players involved with the game. I was thinking of having them investigate some act of sabotage, on either Lucifer or the Shack, or a terrorist attack.

I haven't played or ran Eclipse Phase (I'd love to one day though) but a very simple plot hook you could use is you all wake up in a resleeving facility. The characters had to revert to back ups that were a few days/weeks old, their other selves were investigating some sort of lead and got killed doing it and died in such a way that their cordical stacks couldn't be recovered. They stumbled across a secret, maybe intentional or maybe by accident, might be a sinster conspiracy, might be plans for a terror attack and the people planning it wanted to make sure nobody knew so killed them. Finding out who killed them and why is a pretty simple hook to motivate them to get going and you as a GM can have had them get up to all sorts of things.
