i am looking to buy a Nvidia GeForce 460GT graphics card (link is provided) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-136-GW and my motherboard wont fit it so if anybody can help me find a cheap motherboard that will fit with it then I would be really grateful.

It wont 'fit?'

What do you mean by that? What motherboard do you currently have? Do you realize a motherboard swap will most likely require a new CPU (Unless you're rolling with something newish)?

Basically, need more information.

it dosent have the correct amount of slots for it. http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=g31m-gs%20r2.0 thats my current motherboard. my dad asked a local computer guy who said it would work and then my dad asked the overclockers people and they said it would work but we found out that the motherboard does not have the right amount of slots. i really want the 460 so i need a cheap motherboard that supports it.

That doesn't even make any sense. A 460 GTX uses one PCI Express x16 slot, and your current motherboard has one.

Unless you're talking about how the video card your looking at is a dual slot card (Which means its two cards wide, not that it uses two slots). If this is a problem (You need the PCI slot that the card will hang over), then yes, you need a replacements.

Though I can't for the life of me think of a reason why you would need two PCI slots in this day and age.

EDIT: Also, if your referring to the possible issue of the video card bumping into the chipset heat sink, the simple, cheaper solution is to just replace the heat sink.

But, if after all that, you still need a new motherboard... what kind of case are you working with?

Uhh your after inspecting your motherboard(the one you linked) even a dual slot card should fit unless your 2 pci are full with something else? Need to see pics to be honest. Also with a motherboard like that I'm going to assume the entire tower was store bought a few years back? If so you will more than likely need a new power supply as well, safe to say in 550-600 range.

ahhh it only needs 1x PCI Express 2, but as you see on picture it takes two "slots" of your chassi backside

Pretty much all gpus are like that, so you do not need to worry.

its like i said. it needs a dual width x16 graphics slot.
Why?
its what the specification said
0.o What kind of single gtx 460 needs two pci Express x16 for to run? Can you please link the card (if you bought it online)
Dual slot cards are cards that take up two rear panels. Like this.

His concern is that the video card will either cover up a PCI slot/rub against his chipset heat sink. He hasn't clarified which one of these is his problem.

I don't know why.

EDIT: Okay, you figured it out while I was typing a reply. Disregard.

In theory, yes.

But it should work with the first motherboard, too. Why wont you say how it wont fit?

You need to tell us why it wont 'fit.' Otherwise, we can't help.

Ok the original card you are interested in has no problem whatsoever fitting on your motherboard, it requires only 1 pci express x16 to plug into, and an empty space below it to take up space with its fatness. So unless you have two other random cards pluged into your regular pci slots (i.e. a wireless network card, maybe a sound card, etc.) you will be fine. BUT,and this is a big one AGAIN your power supply may not be strong enough to run your complete system with this installed.
