Ok so i've got an english assignmnt which requires me to look at a book and compare it to another piece of media.
The book I chose was Dante's Divine Comedy: Inferno and the theme i'm comparing is the depiction of hell. now here is my issue, I cannot find another piece of media which depicts hell in detail, so I'm here now in desperation asking you, is there a piece of media you can think of with a detail description of hell?

Why not do depictions of the devil and compare it with Paradise Lost?

but then the devil doesn't feature as heavily in the divine comedy, but there has to be some mileage there.

Also, what about that halloween episode of the Simpsons. the one with the forbidden donut.

What about Dante's Inferno? It still counts.
Dante's Inferno is a section of Dante's Divine Comedy geniuses.
Pretty sure that is exactly the reason WHY they suggested it. Because it is a depiction of Hell in another media, closely related (sort of) to the Divine Comedy. No need to be so snarky.

Oh c'mon guys, really?
Just compare the Inferno and Detroit.
Obviously.
On a more serious note, just look up "underworlds" in other mythologies such as Greek or Norse or find a new concept to compare in media.

Try Dante's Inferno the game or perhaps episodes of the Twilight Zone or even the Treehouse of Horror episodes of the Simpsons.

How exactly is it another media? Unless they meant the game, Dante's Inferno is PART of the Divine Comedy. That would be like saying The Fellowship of the Ring is a different media that is similar to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Anyway OP check out my link, it has everything mentioned in this thread so far and a whole bunch more, just take your pick.

Silent Hill series has a sort of psychological hell-type dimesnsion. Alan Wake, if you really want to go for a super loose connection.

What Dreams May Come, a 1998 movie starring Robin Williams. It has a pretty descent depiction of hell, and if I remember correctly, there are quite a few similarities, imagery wise, to Dante's Inferno. Of course, the hell sequence doesn't come in until near the end of the movie.

Jean Paul Sartre famously said "Hell is other people"

Of course, all the people he knew were French.

One`s a Video Game the other is a book. Thus they are different forms of media. It doesn`t matter that they tell the same story or that one is based off the other. They are still different forms of media.

.....twat.

They are different forms of media, but I believe he asked for a SIMILAR portrail, not an identical one. Ask the maker of the thread: does 2 versions of the same exact thing count?

Don't go name calling unless you know what you are talking about. Try reading what I said. "Unless they meant the game" is a very key part.

"Inferno (Italian for "Hell") is the first part of Dante Alighieri's fourteenth-century epic poem Divine Comedy. It is followed by Purgatorio and Paradiso."

Since long before the game came out, when people say "Dante's Inferno" it means the first part of the Divine Comedy. So no, one is a poem, and the other is part of that poem, and you just made a fool of yourself.
