I just got a letter saying the local government or whoever just heritage listed my house. My house is an old run down dump........like the absolute worst house in the area. I live here cause my broke arse needed a house and I just picked the cheapest one plus nobody else wanted to live here cause it literally only had half a roof when I moved in. Anyone know if this is a good thing?? or a bad thing?? I get the whole heritage thing and my house is over a hundred years old but you would think the heritage people could find getter things to list than my little shack........
You've got a heritage property. Congratulations! You're obviously a fellow of class and distinction who can afford to maintain and repair the house - if your heritage property laws are anything like the one's in Canada - in a traditional fashion while updating old electrical wiring to modern standards in the least obtrusive way possible, right?
Poor... bought the house because it was cheap? Had or has half a roof? Oh god, it sounds like you've entered a world of economic hurt.
All I can say that I'd be deeply suspicious someone was trying to get my house at a seriously under market rate. A well appointed heritage site can sell for big bucks if you own it and can find a reasonable buyer, one that's in the dumps is a PR project for an institution, wealthy individual or construction company, and they're paying bottom dollar on a property nobody else will buy since it costs so much to fix up and must be fixed in a specific and costly manner. I'd make sure someone wasn't doing this to you if this is your house and not just one your renting.
